Hi, long time lurker here.

I am very excited to see this new BE Deviant Artist "Joining the ranks", as it were. However, at the same time this also always gets me a bit paranoid and I feel I have to say something on a serious note.

These talented BE inclined artists are few and far in between, and all too often they disappear quite quickly because of the rabid perverted fan base that comes with the territory. Now, I am NOT saying ANYONE on this form fits this profile, (Though, I think it's safe to say the majority of us are perverted on some level =P) but I feel it has to be said anyway. It is our responsibility as members of this particular community on the interwebs, to represent us in a positive light. To show these young artists who are "testing the waters" so to speak, that we are NOT simply faving them or putting them on DA Watch, to exploit them as smut-generating machines.

All too often, within weeks these artists are IMMEDIATELY turned-off to even being at all affiliated with any sort of process community because they are suddenly being harassed by a legion of the aforementioned rabid perverts who start stalking them for requests and generally things the artist is not comfortable doing. They begin to feel used by a fanbase who favs only their process material with little or no thought as to why, completely ignoring their non-process material, and leave shallow comments like "This is good, do more". They receive no constructive criticism even when they ask for it, and quite frankly, shallow "This is good" type comments, get old very quickly.

Once again I am not saying ANYONE on this forum is even an inkling of a mircro-cubit close to being that sort of person, but I just feel it has to be said that though I think it's really awesome when another DA artist joins the fold, I get really really paranoid that a bunch of selfish jerks are going to start abusing the artist for all their worth, giving us a bad reputation, and ruining it for the rest of us mild-mannered and practical perverts.

I apologize if I turned this thread into srs biznis. Just something I felt needed to be said for the sake of it.

Well said, Catch22. We need to recall that he's not necessarily "joining the ranks." He drew something that sparks our interest, but that doesn't mean that he meant to or intends to in the future.

Rule of thumb: If artist comes here and announces new works when they come out, approach respectfully.
If artist doesn't come here or seem aware we exist, leave them be.

Maybe we should be posting warnings about what happens when you post TF art....? That way at least the artist is 'prepared'.

Well, I don't know, he didn't really outwardly say something like "I'm a BE enthusiast", or whatever people say, but he did say he has certain "plans" to do BE stuff in the future. And from his previous stuff I think it is safe to say I think he had at least some predisposed interest in the subject beforehand.

Really, it's not my place to judge this, especially after the point I tried to make. But that's how it appeared to be to me anyway.

Yes I did go halfassed on the response drawing, I wasn't expecting the tsunami of hits. I'm thinking about redoing it now that I know what will happen. also, Catch22 is right, I won't be doing this kind of art as my main form, but I will have ideas posted time to time.

Anyway, like I said, with BE stuff, it's gonna bring in good fans, and it's gonna bring in bad, annoying ones. Just ignore the latter. They're morons. Real fans realize you're not interested in drawing just process material and will appreciate your other stuff too.
