Re: El Goonish Shive BE
I was never a fan of Egs, I read it for awhile but besides the demonic duck its not all that funny. Sure I bet the furry, TF and TG fanservice is welcome to alot of people but when I read a comic I go for plot and story or if there is a character I'm in love with (not literally) like deadpool.

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
Man that must have just been posted, because I checked the site just a few hours ago and it was still on the previous page. :O I've been following the site for a good year or so now. Fun series. Sucks that he is on-again-off-again on his updates. He is right now on a 9 Comic Buffer which should be interesting. Funny how the whole Female gun affects has reared it's ugly head again.

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
In terms of tone - yes, it's changed a lot. It went from somewhat whimsical and fun to lots of ass kicking and then there was stuff with alternate universes (yawn) and a bunch of teh dramaz and everyone ending up gay/bi... but these things happen.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the most irritating thing - the frequency of updates dropping from five a week to one whenever it happens. Sure, the quality of the art has improved markedly but I think reliability of updates is fairly fundamental. |

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
He was actually doing very well with updates when he initially made the transition to color. The second most recent delay was the most intense one.
Of the web comics I keep up on he has one of the better batting averages. I don't recall much of the story overall that I didn't like. |

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
Honestly, yeah the story's a bit wacky at times and there've been a few hiccups, but the good bits make up for any niggling.

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
Never got into EGS. I've read parts of arcs and I tried to read from the beginning, but I just wasn't interested. It wasn't funny enough and the story wasn't interesting to me. Maybe I didn't read enough of it to get into it, but that's the impression I got.
The only reason I'd want to watch/read is for pure transformational content.

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
I'm with vengeance. EGS used to be one of my usual webcomics. It wasn't necessarily the "epic" that threw me off, although I can definitely understand that view, but rather the update schedule and that whole slumber party storyline.
Go boobage though ;P

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
Actually, I was always fairly disappointed by the whole lack of BE in the Venus form... I suppose this makes up for it.
And I can't really agree about reliability. I think the only webcomics in my current rotation that are regularly irregular on a comparable basis are some of WLP's... |

Re: El Goonish Shive BE
Well, technically, I have Zebragirl and Pawn in mine, Pawn which is going on a year+ without an update but 'not being dead'.
That said, the update schedule really just exaceberates the other issues. You can effectively be on an uninteresting (to you) storyline reading it not for weeks but for the entire year. |
