Well I was speaking from thing like the pillow shading going on with Lizzie that you attached. That means that there is shading going on around all of the lines, therefor the sprite does not have a light source. The figure was also missing a lot of consistent shape.

But that is just me. Thanks, all the help with this project means I can get past some hard plot ideas and such.

There's nothing wrong with the cliches of evil governments or aliens; it's all in how you handle them. Look at what The Matrix: Revolutions did for the classic Man in Black.

Also it might be a good idea if you kept the playable character's transformations simpler so that they stayed close in model to each other (to make animation simpler) and left the large and complex transformations to end of level bosses (who are maybe female as well?) since they wouldn't need to be animated as much. Just tossing ideas out.

Writing plots is right up my alley...let's see what my twisted mind can come up with...hmm...

A group of fanatical druids want to put an end to civilization, believing humans have lost their place in the natural world and they seek to do this by spreading curses that turn them into animals so that they may "rejoin" nature.

Our heroine wanders the forest one day when she finds a man wounded. He tells her about the druids and says he was one of them but he disagreed with their methods. When they refused to listen, he stole one of the special talismans they use to assume animal forms themselves and was mortally wounded as he made his escape. With little time left, he gives it to her and tells her will will allow her to use their shape changing abilities while being able to keep her human mind unlike the curse they plan to unleash on humanity. With his dying breath, he begs her to stop them before humanity is doomed.

There, how's that?

I think I would like to stay away from magic. I was thinking her changes are scientific to an extent. Like she is implanted with some sort of something that causes the changes when she gets the powerups. Whatever those powerups are.

Scientific? Okay...hmm...

Our heroine is attacked by a bizzare creature that seems anatomically impossible. (muchos imagination here) Unable to damage it at all, she ends up mortally wounded and blacks out.

She wakes up inside a liquid filled tube in a lab and notices her body is gone and replaced with a mass of clear fluid. An alien stranger in the lab explains the situation to her. What she met was the first of what would be many. When a group of scientists on his planet sought to pierce the normal limits of the universe, they made a horrifying discovery. Outside was a realm that existed outside the normal laws of physics and reality that govern the universe. Their act had attracted the attention of the entities that resided there and now they seek to shatter the reality that holds our universe together. They had already destroyed his planet and now set their sights on earth. He was one of the few who had escaped and had been working on a weapon to fight them. It was a special mass of protoplasm capable of altering it's form at will. All it needed was a mind to control it. When he found her near death, he decided it would have to be her being as she would have died otherwise.

As for the powerups, could make it anything that came from the creature in question. A purse made from the skin of a reptile? Voila! Reptile transformation!

Are the transformations only beasts or can they be other stuff like goo-girl, water girls, swarm (hundered of insects make up her body) girls, plant girls? Can we get a suspected list of power-ups and creatures that are going to be used?

Mega Man might have game design characteristic the may work well for this game. The idea that you get power ups after you beat bosses which you can switch between. These power- ups can be more effective against certain types of enemies or bosses and some can also effect levels instead of enemies, such as getting through certain doors, or going past gaps and pits.

There can also be several core power-up such as the new armor parts in Mega Man x. These core power-up can be more focused on how much she changes instead of what she changes into. So at first the spider power-up only gives her a web attack, but the more core power-ups, the more arms she gains, can climb walls, stuff like that. Or the core power-ups can simply make her base form or states stronger, making her better all around.

Theres also the possibility of combining power-ups to make crazy shit...but thats another monster entirely.

You could also have temporary power-ups that only last a short time or until you die. These can even dabble into the other expansion areas. Like she gets bean bag boobs, super butt, giantess, stuff like that.

My story is also really basic. Alien invasion = the world at war. Times are desperate and the human race can't seem to compete, so a female volunteer goes under a new experimental mutation to become the perfect weapon. From here, things can go wrong, and stuff or not. Later on you can find out a government conspiracy, so you turn on your government, but they make "the perfect weapon 2.0" to fight you, thus epic battle and if you when you absorb the other girls powers, becoming a demi-goddess and finally being able to kill the dreaded queen alien in space or some shit. Who knows.

I plan to keep the beast forms something like Altered Beast. Which means they all will be humanoid and really in the end, destructive. I have not thought too far into how many but I would like to have wolf, dragon, and minotaur right now. I will add others as I think of them.

I think a contra-esque style of alien war would be interesting. Perhaps she was raised as this weapon since birth. It seems to mix with me better than a volunteer or a kidnapped woman or something. I guess what I am saying is that she was raised as a genetic weapon.

Not really story line idea's more like monster idea's, I hope you like them.

Golem: slow as a snail, but somewhat powerfull and can take quite a beating, before falling to the ground.

Harpy: fast agile, but don't get hit as it will take quite a beating from somewhat weak attacks.

Naga/Lamia: Has longer ''Kicking range'' and above average speed. Although because of the long snake tail you become a bigger target getting hit easier.

Question will she have all forms at start or will she get them like in the old megaman games. (( Beat boss get cool new stuff : D ))

Hmmm...

Maybe we could start out with a sort of mysterious beginning... those type games are quite popular these days... (i.e. Morrowind, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Prototype).

Maybe have it to where she begins the game with the infiltration of a mysterious.... whatever... building...spaceship... the player doesn't know who sent her, or why...

Then, while the mission is in progress, she is caught, knocked out, and wakes up in a state of amnesia. She wakes up in a lab, of which, she has no idea is at, or where it is (she lost her memory of infiltration.. remember?) She doesn't know who she is, so she explores... as she does, she encounters many enemies and characters that play an important role to the story. And at the same time, she gets abilities to transform into different creatures along the way, the creatures, themselves, getting better as they come. Sort of like the game Breakdown, if anyone's played it... The character is in a secret facility, goes to sleep, wakes up, facility is under attack... He has to fight superhumans, and at the same time, slowly gains superhuman powers himself.

I could write the plot for you if you'd like, I got it all set out beginning to end, just don't wanna spoil it for those who wanna play it.

Also, it would be good if the girl's transformations are adapted for specific actions or stuff like that, just like you said, but not just for opening stuff. Maybe like bosses or something.

But yeah, if you get a game goin, then I'd love to beta test it for ya.

Idea-wise and if I can permit myself the suggestion, I've personally be fond of exploration side-scroller such as Metroid or the NES Faxanadu game(even if some people considered it a bit poor due to poor translation). Perhaps something akin to this could be done? Might also permit for a broader universe, if taking the faxanadu-like approach where you even had towns with villagers and so on(one of the interesting part of the setting was the "world tree" that basically was the game world, the town basically built inside the tree's roots/trunk/branches).

In such a setting, perhaps different forms could be used to access different zones like in the two example games where "newest tool of the moment" did the job. Additionally, it might be able to take a small RPG/adventure turn with towns were you could buy items for recovery and such(as was the case in faxanadu).

Of course, this might make for a slightly more complex game than first intended.
