I think O' Malley's art style fits a weekly comic more than the datelines he gets (Japanese artists' hellish schedules notwithstanding), but that's part of its charm.

The sequence was wonderful. But outside being a girl, I don't know what's the disadvantage with those stat trades.

However, I cannot deny the apparent awesomeness surrounding the series. I admire its spirit, nothing more.

I can go both ways regarding the angle, though, for the comic and the sequence carries itself well, regardless of its reference(s)!

I liked it, I mean I haven't read or seen the new movie (yet) of Scott Pilgrim, but I like the whole comics+video games reference, so to reitierate, I liked it.
