If you're serious: get medication. Seriously. I am (was) clinically depressed, and it was horrible, and took a couple of years of off and on treatment to find some stuff that worked, but now I'm basically fine.

And draw what you enjoy drawing. But I'm assuming by the nature of the problem that you also want lots of audience approval, right? If you really need that just throw a bit more popular stuff in, or tap into the audience for ideas and requests and draw the ones that strike your fancy. (No you don't have to do catgirls and cowgirls forever just because they're really popular). But still do however many donkeys it takes to satisfy you. If you don't get anything out of your work there's no point to it.

And on the real life TF thing: If it was someone I genuinely cared about I wouldn't care if they were turned into the most twisted TF I've ever seen. Well, I'd care, but it wouldn't make me hate or fear them.

But yeah, there would be some of the hate and fear going around too for other cases. Human nature and all.

Re: Poll.

I am on medication. It's not working very well.

And yes, I want to please others, since I've been told for years that my own opinion wasn't wanted. It's all about others.

Re: Poll.

It's all about what you want, I know you're probably sick of hearing it, but if you do what you want you will always be more engrossed in it. And when you're working on something really hard it feels good doesn't it? I too am depressed, but I remove those feelings by doing hard and rewarding stuff. I've been pushing myself by learning 3d design lately. And I'm very proud of some of my starting work. Maybe I'll show it off one day, but for now ill keep working on my craft until I'm ready to release it. Other wise I know I'll focus too much on the negatives that people say... I'm actually a very accomplished mapper for source games, but I spent years working on things people wanted before I created maps for myself. I am fond of that work, but the ones I wanted to do always came out the best.

I know I'm rambling and I'm sorry, but I just wanted to give you some advice to help stop the depression. I didn't use meds, I just found the greatest way to prevent the feelings is to keep yourself busy, so try picking up something new, it'll get you focused on that, and you'll learn tons of stuff on the way. It's a win win haha.

So think about something you've always wanted to learn and do. And just do it. And who knows? Maybe this new skill will take your art to new levels, I know 3d design greatly improved my understanding of anatomy and lighting. It's always good to learn lol

Re: Poll.

The only things I really can do in this town are draw, watch the local independant wrestling shows come each Saturday, and drive to the mall 30 miles south of here on occasion. At least there's a Hobby Lobby near said mall. Yay. :|

Lol, that's the same situation as me, moved out to my new house 3 years ago and basically became alone. But I keep myself busy. Mostly with 3D design like I said, but also photography (with a crappy old camera), level design, and some games. I don't know how many hours minecraft and team fortress 2 have sucked away from my life xD.

But I'm not saying do something completely crazy lol. Just challenge yourself. Like try to push your art to the next level, in whatever way you want or do something completely different just to try out. If you want to try out 3d design like I am, blender(www.blender.org) is an amazing free program for 3G modeling. Its a bit tough at first, but you can do some really amazing stuff with it. Or photography if you have a camera. Or music, digital or real. Even though you are stuck where you're at, you still have options out there. If you do wanna try some of those. Things out I can direct you to some awesome sites to get you started for free.

Re: Poll.

Maybe this will sound stupid and offtopic, but I do dabble in music. Bought a Silvertone SG-copy from a local pawnstore last month, needs to be tuned in the worst way but otherwise perfect. Music taste-wise, I rarely listen to anything after around 1999 or so, not counting live concerts by older bands. I just don't "get" new music. Sorry.

Anyway. TF. What do people want usually?

Get different medication. These things generally only have a bout a 30% success rate. Took me ages to find something that worked. But when it worked, it worked. Went from being half dead to being able to hold down a job and go to school simultaneously without fucking it up and wanting to curl up in my bed and pretend not to exist. And I'm actually fairly happy most of the time.

Anyway, for animal tf? The most common by far seem to be canines and felines, followed by cattle, horses, and pigs. If you can make yourself happy doing that then that's fine I suppose.
