Re: Freeborn - REborn
My wife is graduate from film school, she was telling me how public funding is really starting to be a huge success for indie movies now. As long as the fans are there, it can easily help a movie. Biggest example was "Paranormal Activity", now youtubers like FreddieW aka Freddie Wong and the Angry Video Game Nerd are using the same mediums to successfully make a movie...
Don't knock it, there's huge potential

Re: Freeborn - REborn
one more thing, shopping for investors whether private or big studios is a very tiring, long drawn out process. If he doesn't have a respected name to back him, it makes all the more difficult.
So I'm sure, while he was shopping the movie around, he ultimately had to keep busy with other projects. Film making is one of the BIGGEST pains in the ass you could ever imagine. Give Brownrigg his due, i'm sure he's busted his ass to make this movie happen. I applaud him for not giving up, especially after 8 years.

There have been multiple tries to find a sponsor trough the past years, if I remember well only 1 barely agreed to sponsor it but only if the project was pretty much sold to the studio/company/whatever and completely changed from the original ideas. Most movies are not made free folks, even less ones of this genera with the amount of quality people expect from it. Because certainly the overall idea could had been done with just a home camera and some crappy makeup, but certainly the people behind it, the werewolf fandom and those who don't just conform with crap quality stuff don't want that (and even should it get done I bet people will still bitch about one thing or another, no matter how much effort was put into it). No wonder many people drop down the towel in this fandom, too many people crying for constant updates on everything and for free...

Let's just hope that if it does go through, that even though it may not have a decent story, that the process will be better than most of the bullshit we get nowadays. (Mostly offscreen or rushed *poof* "I'm a wolf sequences"). Here's hoping for the best.

Re: Freeborn - REborn
Ah well,to kill it further
Back in 2010 I noticed in the recently published "Book of Dragons" that the 20 mainstream commercial fantasy writers had no problem with 'transformation' but avoided ' transformation sequence' ( process ) like it was the Black Death. IOW process was dead at the mainstream commercial level in 2010 So when I saw this thread about Brownrigg making a pitch for cash to produce a process heavy film my "Shyster Alarm" was blaring out < Red Alert Red Alert > pretty loudly |

Re: Freeborn - REborn
He's saying the fact that a dragon book published with little to no explicit process proves that TF is dead in the mainstream and unlikely to be displayed in any satisfying fashion.
The logic's not GOOD but I understood it.

isn't what the market ( $$$$$$$$$$$$ gobbling movie making) wants at this time Last edited by morwalugi; 01-18-2012 at 05:45 PM. |

It'll probably show up in a film festival somewhere and hopefully go straight to DVD afterwards, that's the best case scenario. |
