This could be what I call "claws & fangs": some fake fangs, some pointed nails and... voil?! Cheap-instant-werewolves. You'll have plenty of this in the forthcoming Strippers vs Werewolves.

Well not everyone can afford expensive CG effects and are too stupid to realize that practical special effects can(and in fact DO) still produce impressive and realistic werewolves.

Well they did back in the 80s, but nobody uses them anymore. You either get CG that often looks like crap or low budget stuff where a lack of lighting hides practically everything so you can't see how low budget it is.

A disgrace for those who've barely watched perhaps. There are three types of werewolves on the show--alphas, betas, and omegas. Betas, which are freshly minted werewolves, have the limited make-up you're familiar with. Omegas are as yet unseen. Alphas are large, bestial, snouted monsters (i.e., AWIL-type werewolves) and are the type that wake up naked. However, I very much doubt that Lydia will become a werewolf, since she was bitten last season and did not change.

I'm well aware of the alpha beta thing, and it does not change my opinion of the portrayal. Thanks for trying to educate me, though.

Awesome.

So instead of just claws and fangs, we'll get claws and fangs and special contacts that look like cat eyes!

Re: Possible minor transformations in Teen Wolf Season 2.

There will be at least two female werewolves in the new season.

Looks like Lydia will be a werewolf as well as an unnamed female. Also the one jock will be a werewolf too. And there's some new shapeshifter in the mix as well.

Well movies as recent as the Underworld series certainly had convincing werewolves that where guys in suits (CGI was used for the transitions from actor to guy in suit), so well done in fact they where mistaken for purely CGI ones. I'm not sure about Underworld 4 but it wouldn't surprise me if most of it's werewolves where still guys in suits. Buffy the Vampire Slayer also pulled off a decent werewolf effects for a TV show that was recent. The fact is CGI isn't as predominant as most people think and more expensive than they realize. Practical special effects like make up, monster suits, puppets and animatroics STILL produce very realistic special effects.

The unnamed female werewolf is Gage Golightly:

Your original statement was that they were "impressive" and "realistic", and those are both simply a matter of opinion. I find the CG effects used in Underworld and Buffy to be neither of those things. More to the point, we are talking about female werewolves specifically, something Underworld doesn't even have and Buffy only had a split second of female werewolf TF before killing her.
