Honestly, I feel like commissioning wouldn't be such a horrible idea if they didn't charge upwards of $50+ dollars for one fucking picture. Sure you can compare the hourly rate of how much they could be making while working, but you also have to consider how many other things the consumer can buy with $50+; a dinner for 2, new game, clothes, shoes, groceries, etc. The pleasure which can be derived from any one of those things far outweighs the pleasure derived from a single picture. In short, the increase in price for good art or process related material has diminished the community as a whole.
Really you're going to blame the forum closing on artists charging too much and not a enough free content? It seems more like Lorekeep is just at the end of his time, hes done this for how many years now? Its gota be at least 10. I dont blame him for his choice either, im sure this takes a lot of time and energy to run.
Thanks for the heads up ZZZ, i didnt know you had a forum. It may not be the process, but it may be a place for us to go when this one disappears.

it's over 12 at least. I've been following hte process that long, and I know that I didnt get here on the first incarnation of hte site either. I'm pretty sure there was something before the Transfur days.

fvkljdf;gldf gwh-wh-whaaat?

I missed that announcement, The Process is closing?! (tabs over.. NOOO!) Oh man, I am really bummed now. I love this place! I loved that the focus here was on The Process because that's the part I love the most. I don't know of any other board that does this or one that caters to such a wide variety of interests.

I learned to draw thanks to this board with all the silly games we played and great encouragement from so many folks.

I'm gonna miss it.

Re: Keeping the community together

I'm going to suggest - again - the notion of "someone" potentially seeding a vBulletin backup for an announced, limited timespan - similar to the SizeBooru tack - before the forums are officially shuttered and/or transferred. This would preserve the existing content, while potentially leaving contact info intact for anyone that wants it.

EDIT: If bandwidth is a concern, maybe limit the ratio, then let DHT and community peer requests take over once a decent saturation point is established.

This announcement? "Process Productions will be undergoing an ownership change in the near future. This should not overwhelmingly affect normal operations. Further details will be provided as they become available..."

I hope that doesn't mean the forum is a goner.

That's great news! The announcement was a full-on closure before. If Lorekeep is seeking a change of ownership instead that means it may yet stay online.

*Mimics the scene in Star Trek (2009) where the short alien Keenser, who is stuck on Delta Vega with Montgomery Scott, seems to cry after Spock trans-warp beams Kirk and Scott to the Enterprise* .......

++Update++ By the way, in my absence I happened upon the name of that .gif on RoboPengy's first post of this thread: TWINBEE.

Wait, the Process is changing ownership?

Huh. Well, as long as Lorekeep sticks around, I won't panic.

Re: Keeping the community together

As an on-and-off lurker for some time now, the (hopefully now squashed) threat of closure is a good incentive to become a proper poster. Hello - nice to meet you all!

Robopengy, thanks so much for that Twinbee Paradise GIF. Such a classic moment!
