Re: Original video
Technically, copyright lasts for the life of the author, plus 70 years.

Things got much worse after they were accused of pedophelia, though. Towards the end I think it was pretty obvious Bambi was doing some pills and some heavy drinking. Sad. |

Re: Original video
I just hope she's okay. I'm fine with her leaving the scene, but I'd like some closure as to how she's doing or whatever, instead of just unexpectedly dropping off the face of the Earth.

The reasons she got flak and a lot of bad rep was because she would stop updating her sites months at a time with no notice. She made a lot of false promises. She was poor at communication. The worst and the biggest issue was caused when she decided to turn the expansion mansion into a pay site, there was the whole issue with people's free work being basically sold without their permission. She owned the site/forum before that happened, though. The drugs thing is an unfortunate rumor I heard, but if you look at some of her later videos it's pretty obvious. |

Re: Original video
Strictly legally speaking we'd have to wait a very long time, 70 years after the death of the creator, or 95-129 for work created anonymously or for hire from date of publication, yadda yadda yadda. That's why I said ethically in my original comment as legally it's strictly not kosher. But ethically it's more grey, still no point arguing it as if the author did decide to come back and start sharing work again it sure would suck if all there old work was being freely distributed in their absence. That would discourage many from sharing work in the first place I image, the idea that if you lose interest in the subject matter for long enough you lose all rights to it.
I think the only fair way it could be handled would be with distributors, the various stores that sell the items, a clause in the agreement saying that after 5, 10 or however many years the items may be distributed freely but not as part of a for-profit enterprise (ie not for sale or available via a subscription service). Still that would have it's own issues and abuses as well. All the more reason to save whatever you come across that you like and hold onto it, because down the road it may not be available again.

Re: Original video
Yeah, it sucks because I was a member of her site for a while and my old HD died, possibly never to be resurrected. The TMC stuff is still for sale, but Bambi's stuff is dust in the wind.
I have to say that I never cared for how she guarded her work. I know some of it's understandable on the internet, but she would hardly even release trailers. I guess in some ways it makes sense but they were so close to the chest on the business end that it put me off sometimes. It's sad that her stuff is now almost impossible to find because I did like a lot of her stuff. TMC is great with the effects, but Bambi had a lot more heart in much of the stories. For starters she was actually into the BE herself, and she seemed to be more ok with making things about the sexiness. I always thought that if we could get TMC and Bambi together we could've had an amazing BE clip, but I don't think anyone would make it out alive :P. But still, it was nice having something different out there, and it's still bad for the community that we have less content now no matter what we felt about her personally. She might've made some bad decisions and she might not've been the most popular person, but she contributed to BE in many ways and it's a shame that our resources are now lessened. I think the real beginning of the end was when she got her fake implants, because that suddenly meant that she was already big when she started out, and it's hard to start BE from "very large" already. It's a shame she couldn't do what she wanted to for money, I hope she isn't just spending time working at like a KFC or something now. |
