That's pretty much the best piece of evidence you could give us that you are in fact female.

Re: Feeling blergh

What feels like a big deal is just the perfect storm of small annoyances magnifying one another and the discomfort is causing me to overreact. I'm fine.

I have a cold, so sinus pain, itchy ears, lots of snot. My skin is dry and cracking, making it susceptible to infection and hurty. I drank beer on Sunday, triggering the acid reflux episode. The alcohol also, in conjunction with PMS, depressed my mood, hence the pouting. I'm likely not having worse uterine contractions than normal and am just reacting to them big because of everything else. Why my guts were being funny this morning, who knows, but they've been terrific since so scratch that off the list.

Treatment is nothing special. The cold will run it's course. Lip balm and lotion go a long way for my skin. As for my nose, I've got titanium alloy in it and am cleaning it a couple times a way, applying tea tree oil but otherwise keeping my hands away. The acid reflux was entirely resolved with 75mg of ranitidine. I took Tums for instant relief but didn't need it.

Once everything else is under control my doc will assess whether the cramping requires investigation. Probably not and it just feels like a bigger deal than usual because I'm distressed and uncomfortable as a result of everything else.

I still feel fat and disgusting and very unsexy, even knowing everything will be all right. I had granola, fruit, yoghurt, a donair and two cookies to eat today and am still hungry and very crabby though so I'm going to retire for the evening and see if I can't manage a ten or twelve hour sleep during which I won't have to think about how much I wish I was comfortable and eating something delicious. I gots to escape these feels.

That's why I went to the doctor; so a shark doesn't eat me.

Uhg. Listening to the hockey game is making me reconsider that behind the woodshed option. The NY Islanders suck and we had three goals up on the. This is shameful.

That's nothing. Game ended 7-4 for the Islanders. Canucks flew down to Cuba for the third period, I think.

Some of the calcium is rendered virtually inaccessible due to pasturization, and some people will never get enough calcium strictly from milk, but I've never seen any good studies proving the whole calcium lost to lactose buffering deal. Studies, yes. Ones I'd spend time defending, no.
But what the fuck do I know? I just write porn.
That's communication.
Due to common usage, I'm pretty sure that a medical student is expected to be a person studying to be a doctor of medicine much as an engineering student is expected to one day be an engineer. What you are saying may be 100% valid, but is very likely to be conveying the wrong message. A communications failure.
Either A) choose different term, or
B) define your usage of the term before or shortly after using the term.

But still watch out. Doctors are particularly prickly about the naming because of the amount of time being spent fighting off quackery. Because doctor is not an owned and regulated term like engineer, they have to contend with all manner of doctor of batshit. Engineers just share the term with folks running trains. Not much potential for harm there because the train dudes aren't building bridges and buildings, but trust me the engineering associations stomp out folks who do give it a try with hobnailed boots. Unfortunately there is this common and particularly offensive breed of assholes who say they can do stuff like cure cancer with crystals and just love to be called doctor. Case in point.

Re: Feeling blergh

I did great for much of today, then not so great, then slept. I’m going back to sleep in a mo. I know y’all are terribly concerned about my wellbeing though.

Any time I’m capable of SIXTEEN hours of sleep, I’m fighting something. I wasn’t terribly uncomfortable today but I was wiped out and able to reschedule work for the week so I let myself drift in and out for much of the day. Evidently, I needed it. No gut upset, no acid reflux, no cramps. All I was left with was sinus congestion but it had loosened way up and mucus was moving, which is better than being stuffed up. My skin’s not peely or cracky anymore thanks to lotion and lip balm. My nostril piercing stinks every time it moves in my nose but, unfortunately, that’s normal; dead skin cells and bacteria build up within the fistula, on the jewellery and, when you move the jewellery, you often push it into your nose and smell it. Bleh. It’s not significantly worse than usual though and there’s no discharge or pain or swelling so yay.

I pushed it too hard tonight though and the gut rot + itchy, swollen lips + cramps from hell returned. Getting back inside, slathering my mouth in petroleum jelly and drinking a bunch of fluids resolved just about everything. As for the cramps, yesterday was day one of my cycle. I’m four days from total relief from menstrual pain. In the meantime, I really only feel them when sitting so literally walking them off and lying resolve the issue.

I’m good, not going to die. I just need to take it easy for another couple days.

Back to bed.

@ Keile - like you don't know.

@ Keile and bozo - uhoh, dueling medical students.

Are we going to have to lock this thread? Maybe move it to FBS?

As for why I upset you? That was an accident, sorry about that. If it makes you feel any better I've called men "Ma'am" and women "Sir" to their faces at work on accident @.@

As for the other thing...I'm done with it.

I don't know, but oh-k. I've done the same thing I guess.

(( Thinking of John Cleese at the pet shop! Sorry I have a cold! haha))
