I can't remember exactly where I found this, but here's a different way to download those.

Make this:
"javascript:window.location%20=%20pixiv.context.ug okuIllustFullscreenData.src;"
a bookmark.

I was instructed to add this to the favorites bar, but it may work as a regular bookmark as well. Go to a page with one of these new animations (called 'Ugoira' format apparently) and click the bookmark in your favorites bar. You'll get a download for a zip containing all the individual frames of the animation as .jpg images.

What if you just saved saved the gif like you would a normal picture and then open it up in some sort of programme that supports gifs?

Because the file isn't a gif. It has to be converted.

somewhere out there is a tool/program that grabs each frame (pixivutil20140628) can upload it somewhere when i have the time ... or ill just do the others whenever
