And yes, more than likely, especially if your DSL modem has more than one port, it has a firewall/NAT.

Google search for your modem's model and the word "configure". See where that gets you.
Failing that, some carriers will make you contact them in order to do things like open ports.

thank you and I think I found out why I didn't work with emule. I didn't turn off my second firewall. Which I forgot that I ever downloaded. Silly me. Lol.
