Coconut Owl... Yo-Kai Kitty... The One No One Will Pick. Seriously the seal is going to be declared the WOST Pokemon design ever. and two new legends.. Mecha Kimba and Robotic Space Bat. Seriously look at the new legends and tell me you can't see them as the beast modes of transformers!

You're not wrong about the legendaries. The lion reminds me more of a Zoid, while the bat is objectively the coolest bat to come out of this series. Kind of sad that it took seven generations to get it.

Popplio is not nearly the worst anything. It's not as cool as the other two but it's still cute and goofy.

I wonder how cool a team made out of torchic, piplup and rowlet would be.

Being a horrible design and being called a horrible design are two different things. Just like every angsty pokemon player will declare Litten the coolest Pokemon even because it looks evil and is black and red. Pipplio is based on a clown, people don't like clowns. Objectively is a neat idea and very much in line with Pokemon. Doesn't mean it will be accepted as such.

Heck some still insist on the "Caterpie and Venomoth where switched" theory based entirely on Metapod's eyes despite the fact Caterpie's evolution line designs mirror a real life species butterfly perfectly.
We still have people saying how "creepy and out of place" Lavender town is in Gen 1 when in reality it's the opposite, it's the most cliche location type in video games, it would have been weird for there not to be a "haunted/spooky" area in the original games.

There's an image floating around that supposedly shows the second evolutionary forms for each starter, and Popplio looked to be on its way to being more clown like, but not by much. I honestly hope that the circus/clown theme is more subtle than what I saw, otherwise people will continue to treat it like a joke, save for those who genuinely like Popplio's design.

And while Lavender Town is technically a trope location, it's still the most surreal one to ever come from the Pokemon franchise. Before arriving there, many players would have never assumed that their Pokemon could actually die, what with always fainting in battle. It also showcases an example of animal abuse with Team Rocket having outright killed a Marowak that was protecting its infant Cubone.

I haven't done a grass starter really in forever, did Feniken and Mudkip recently (though did Turtwig when I had diamond) Maybe it depends on what they turn into, as Samourott was pretty badass.
Personally I hope we get some interesting type combos. Maybe something based off a wolf or tiger would be cool too.

The final evolutions' types have sort been revealed by way of someone digging into the Japanese site's coding. I will say that Litten will not become Fire/Fighting, so that's a relief.
