A catch-phrase is usually a vocalization of some kind placed somewhere within a speech. It doesn't have to be anywhere in particular you see, Nya-haha. It just has to be someplace there. But as these are not vocal in themselves it is a pattern of typing which becomes the catch-phrase, or a habit of typing style that sets one apart from the rest. One such example is if someone was to write their posts out in "Olde English". A signature doesn't necessarily count as a catch-phrase, because it is separate from what you are actually writing... Unless you manually paste it at the end of everything you write.

TRY WRITING A POST IN ALL CAPS. THE FORUM TAKES CARE OF THAT FOR US. IT COMES OUT LOOKING SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
- edit - .... huh. I think the quote broke it. Anyway, in the past I've actually had posts get edited by the software. You can tell when that's happened because it just capitalized the first letter. Doesn't seem to have worked this time though. Apologies. - Second Edit - Y'know, a thought occured to me reading the "hello" post a few minutes ago. A rather decisive arguement, to be sure. "If Lorekeep wants rules, he'll make them." I think I like that. Last edited by PrBlahBlahtson; 07-10-2007 at 09:30 AM. |

But yes, a signature is different from a catch-phrase unless you manually put it after everything. I think there should a rule along the lines of "every topic in the request forum isn't open game to make a request for yourself." I suppose if you want it simplified or more concrete, it could be something along the lines of "Only make a request in someone else's thread if an artist offered to take them." also, "Thou shalt post reference images when making requests in any possible point that it is applicable."
