Actually the moding of your avatar is free, for the most part. It's INSANELY detailed! I mean, there are about 8-9 ways just to mod the nose! I even made a Chibi version of my character! I made all the clothes she wears, except the wings, I got those for free in a set of 5. The first shop you go to on Help Island is free, and you can get a car, bike, airplane, wings, cloths, textures, furniture, and more. You can even get a free house! You just need to look at all the stuff on Orientation Island, and Help Island.
Seriously, out of the maybe 3-4 hours I spent playing so far, I got everything for free! and I have a ton of stuff. And like I said, I made most of my clothes. It's not that hard to do, once you take the tutorial. The only thing i didn't learn was scripting. but I can do that later if I want, now that there's a returnable version of the Help Island. It's worth a second shot, now that so much has been revamped.

I've got a couple of freebie accounts, but I rarely log in. Performance and UI issues aside, the user-created content is definitely a reflection of Sturgeon's Law: 90% of everything is crap.
There are some really nice and handy freebies out there, though. I strongly suggest using the Search function to find Yadni's places, if you can stand SL long enough to make your way off Newbie Island. |
