I've been thinking about doing a sequel to Kari's Dark Digivolution, and I think I have a good idea, but I've hit a snag: what should she transform from? There are two possible options, and both have pros and cons.

1. She could be reverted to her human form and transform from that.
Pro: It's an easier baseline to work from
Con: It requires more narrative contrivance and it retreads the first transformation

2. She could simply transform from LadyDevimon.
Pro: It makes more sense, narratively speaking
Con: It would be a lot more difficult to draw

Right now I'm leaning towards the first option, but I'd like some input.

How does this sound? Reversion without your listed con:
Don't revert her in order to start the evolution, revert her because she's evolving, if that makes sense. Whatever causes her to evolve should happen while she's LadyDevimon, so it doesn't feel like you're just taking back the whole first part to do the second. It won't matter that much narrative-wise if she just flash-reverts as evolution to the next form starts, in my opinion.

Hi there,


An interesting evolution of the debate. Though this topic is far from my speciality, it did ring a bell.


I recall a while ago (circa late 2007) encountering the Digimon World Data Squad game; a stand alone spin off of the fifth Digimon season "Digimon Data Squad" http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Digimon_Data_Squad .


In this, the protagonists faced off against a group of evil hierarchs called "The Seven Great Demon Lords" - one of which was the sole female, Lilithmon http://digimon.wikia.com/wiki/Lilithmon .


As these entities are asscociated with a certain neagative trait, it was possible for a human being with this trait to become this digimon after bonding with the relevant "Code Key"; the resulting change a kind of arguable, vague posession/symbiosis. In this case, a girl called Yuma, though her "lust" is debatable in meaning, bonds with the key and becomes Lilithmon


The relavant arcs for the game are here, though the transformation is suitably very limited; a simple, phased reversion after the encounter, the original change/bonding have already taken place.

Can you elaborate? I think I understand what you're trying to say... So she should flash-revert to Kari and then transform to Lilithmon?

Yes, after the event that causes the evolution to start. Hell, it all gets so warped anyways, you can blame it on Warp Digivolution.
(And that usually starts from base form anyway)
