Often when hotlinking isn't allowed you just click the link itself and view it on it's own. Anyone who can see it after the fact is able to because the image is in their browser's cache. So the person linking it is going to be able to see it because they'd seen it on the original page and their browser stored it, they're not going to see a little "X" and error messages like everyone else did.

I'm terribly sorry guys, I had absolutely no idea about that. I'll avoid hotlinking images/gifs in the future
