Re: Red Parrot presents: Office Politics (Preview)
WOW
Thanks for all the positive comments! I want to answer everyone who commented, so let's get started. Quote:
But trust me, this is the right length. It actually started longer but I've been cutting dialog and effects I didn't love just 't make it tighter and better, which I think is the right call. (And don't feel too sad. Effects that "didn't work" are becoming "draft-ideas for my next shoot.") I've got 3 words too. TH-A-NKS! Quote:
Awww. Love that guy! Thanks! I keep trying to think of things I've never seen before. It doesn't always happen, but I get excited when I manage to find one. You don't have a question, but I love praise. So here's your reward: Uh oh. Did I start a precedent? Damn. Alight, I'm going as fast as I can! Aw, man. I'm in such a hurry I set the focus on the camera wrong. So so sorry about that. Someone PM'd me to defend me from your common. I appreciate that, but I'm going to cut them off. I appreciate feedback, OhZone. This is a perfectly fine comment. My answer to you, though, is that "goodness" covers both acting abilities as well as looks. I know you don't have the benefit of seeing the people I passed over. But let me assure you that when balancing looks and talent this wonderful lady (who I'll call "T" here) was my best choice. This movie is working primarily because she was able to pull off some good acting within the constraints of my special effects (which often meant acting to no one). That's not easy and I'm thrilled she was able to do it. But just to be clear, this is not me saying that she acts well so it's ok to be ugly. It must be made clear that I THINK T IS PRETTY DAMNED HOT. I do appreciate the comment, but you deserve to know my opinions as well. But seriously, man. I appreciate criticism and don't want it to stop. Have a gift as my proof: Just promise me you'll tell me what's wrong next time too. Quote:
That's not a promise, but it is my goal. Quote:
I have a different job now, though, which is why I've had time to actually finish this and will be be able to get more of them done in less than 2 months. Anyway, as for your idea, I find it interesting but my fear is that it would only work in close-ups. Once I have shots of the actress talking in a wide shot you couldn't speed her up so the boob-swaying would vary from shot to shot. This isn't to say I won't look into this further. I'm just giving you my gut-reaction fear about it. Quote:
But like I said, keep the criticisms coming. Quote:
Quote:
The joys of production! So only T shrinks BUT she does shrink a little more in the second half. I mean, I'm not a monster. We'll get shrinking in there one way or another! But yeah, I will be aiming for double-lady-shrinking next month. Remember, I'm making this stuff because I'm into it too. Quote:
So at least that much. Past that, I can't promise. We'll see how it goes. Quote:
THANKS EVERYONE Gotta get back to work now. So much video to edit...so many ladies to shrink... This work doesn't do itself! |

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean she was ugly. She is very hott! And I'm sure she's a better actress than I could ever be! I'm just a little spoiled by my girls some times. But the main point is the SW process! MMM Good stuff and I need more. Carry on.

Re: Red Parrot presents: Office Politics (Preview)
Yeah, T is pretty cute. And seems to be a decent actress to boot. Always nice.
I'll agree that the sneeze effect is nifty. I don't think I've seen something quite like that before... Thanks for the lovely images in your reply, too. Love your work!

Well, if you're ever short on ideas, I got a few scripts and story concepts I'd love to share with you

Agreed, that sneeze effect is probably one of the best things I've seen in a shrinking video in awhile.

Re: Red Parrot presents: Office Politics (Preview)
I'm addicted to dialog.
It's not that I couldn't do that effect, my point is that it would go away when I have shots with the actress talking. But you raise a good point. Perhaps I should be doing a music video or something where no one talks. |

Re: Red Parrot presents: Office Politics (Preview)
the lighting of the SFX clips blend well with the scene of each frame, important to remember that or it just looks really out of place and can confuse the focus. This can lead to the desired effect of shrinking in this case being lost with the viewer.
Also the gentle shaky movement with camera matches with the confused/panic emotions being displayed too which can be hard to get right by shaking/moving too much or too little. Also, will be buying this too. |
