Depends what the illness is.My sister has rp,and over the last 3 years has effectively gone totally blind.

One relative has Marphens Syndrome with leaky veins and eyeballs.Every few years they have to pop his eyeball out to put a patch on a pinhole leak at the back

Glaucoma?Can cause a eye to go out of focus.

Cataracts?Some monster big cataracts can totally block the light

One fellow started having optic nerve squeezing issues,and what started as a

it all cleared up, i think i just poked my self in the eye while i was asleep and i live beverly (about an hour away from leed's) why you ask ( were i live i mean)
