It wasn't so much melodrama...
The people seemed more real and their was quite a bit of happy moments. Half the tears were not sad tears. Noir is my favorite genre.

More or less dead. There are ocasional modern noir movies. Sorta like acid flashbacks they will come from nowhere. Blood Simple for example.

Which neo noir film by the Wachowski Brothers? They have several. Most neo-noir seems too light hearted for my taste, or there is too clear a line between right and wrong.
