Not quite the thread topic, but I think it relates enough that it should be okay.

For some time now, I haven't been able to get onto g.e.hentai. Whenever I try, I get the following message:

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server

I was just wondering if anyone knew what I should do to fix this.

Sounds like your proxy is blocking it....but since 95% of people don't use them at home, it could be your ISP blocking it. You can try using some free proxies to see if that the case, or try http://exhentai.org/ instead and see if that works. Not sure if that alternative site will work, but it seems you're not alone with this issue.

Coincidentally that is precisely what I have also finished doing. My old laptop would melt trying to run that shiny looking jewel of a game. XD

Back on track though, Nano-kin it was likely one of their ads and not the site itself. Take the time to get Firefox and NoScript or AddBlock and that problem will vanish forever. No reason to entirely write off a good resource due to a few aggressive ads.

everything was up to date ... my antivirus programm couldnt stop the virus. i had to reinstall everything 2 times ...

i just wanted to say to be careful

Using a proxy, I can get onto g.e-hentai, but when I get to a gallery, the links going past the first page of thumbnails don't work, and when I try to click a picture to get the full size, the image is almost always broken.

You may want to try posting in the e-hentai forum and see if anyone can help you. It still sounds like your ISP is blocking you. Several e-hentai users reported some ISP in Singapore are definitely blocking that website. Then again, several users in the US from various ISP have reported the issue as well.

One option you could try is to change your DNS IP address....perhaps that could help alleviate the issue? Not exactly sure if it would help, but perhaps your ISP's Doman Name Server isn't showing the right address, so perhaps an alternative open Domain Name Server will work for you instead.

The other alternternative is to try the mobile version http://lofi.e-hentai.org/ which, according to the user from the forum link I posted, worked.

Wish i could be of more help, but since your browser does work with a free proxy, it really does sound like an ISP issue. Unless.....

Do you have some antivirus software that installed a Firewall? If you do, perhaps it is blocking any "dangerous" website that have been known to, at some point in time, to have viruses...which e-hentai did have with one of their advertisers which was promptly removed afterwards...

Actually...no. That still wouldn't account why the proxy let you access the website.

Hmmm...If this issue happens using a different internet provider in you area, say you connect to a neighbor, friend, or cafe's free internet (assuming you have a laptop), then that would give a better idea of what the issue is...assuming these places use a different ISP....

Yeah, they did have a few virus/adware install from a few advertisers. They were removed as they violated their terms of service agreement with e-hentai.

Always use a good adblocking program like Adblock Plus for Firefox and Chrome to prevent against viruses. Using NoScript gives you even less likely chance for that to happen, but it's a pain in the ass because it blocks all java script. It takes a while to develop a large white-list. I've been using NoScript for the past 3 years and I still have to "allow" website's and their java scripts. It definitely is a great way to stay safe, but the easiest way is to avoid shady websites altogether. But since I don't Noscript + Adblock Plus is a must
