Re: Midna BE Story

Link could only conclude that the person he was looking at was himself. There were a few minor differences, but they might as well have been brothers. Each was just staring at the other until a soft, yet powerful voice broke the silence.

‘Warrior,’ Zelda asked, addressing the Link on the ground, and although her voice was clear and calm, her face betrayed immense surprise as well, ‘What business do you have here?’ Link looked at his ‘twin’, and at Zelda again, awkwardly.

Zelda’s face suddenly betrayed a smile. ‘It’s no use twisting around it, I suppose, so I might as well ask the most pressing question on our minds – is your name Link?’ she said. Link nodded. His ‘twin’ frowned.

‘You can remove the Sword, Link. I doubt he means harm,’ Zelda said, addressing Link’s ‘twin’. That’s when the obvious truth struck him at last – he stood before one of his ancestors, and not just any one of them – the Hero of Time, Link.

‘There is no doubt that you are one of the line of heroes that have long protected Hyrule,’ Zelda said, glancing only a brief moment at the mark on Link’s hand and observing the Triforce of Courage glowing upon it.

‘Since I doubt words will be your method of explaining, please lead us to the reason you are here – it must be a pressing matter if you have come from a different time or wherever you came from,’ Zelda went on, quickly analyzing the situation.

Link was glad the awkward moments were over, and he silently requested the couple to follow him. He couldn’t help but glance over at the Hero of Time a few times. He also saw what had grabbed onto his foot in the Hero’s hand – something not unlike his own Clawshot.

They quietly walked back through the courtyard like this, and went out the door and back through the Castle’s surrounding gardens. From several yards away, they could see something happening at the gate. Several of the guards on duty were standing around something.

As they approached, Zelda spoke. ‘Guards,’ she said, with a clear voice that made the earth shake, ‘What is so interesting that it is deserving of the negligence of your duties?’ The guards, quite startled, quickly stepped aside.

On the soft sand of the path lay a guard and two women - Saria and Midna. Zelda immediately ran up to Saria, and knelt down. ‘They’re alive. Nothing appears to be wrong with them, either… they’re just asleep,’ the Princess said quietly, almost to herself.

Both Links were very confused, and wondered just what had happened in the past hour or so.

__

As Link made his attempt to sneak into the Castle, Saria and Midna waited for anything to happen. The guard suddenly gave out a yell, and jumped to his feet when he realized two people stood in front of him. ‘Eh, oh. Good day to you!’ he said.

As Saria still hadn’t gotten over her shyness, Midna took the lead in speaking. ‘Good day. Is Princess Zelda here today?’ she asked in the most friendly voice she could manage after all she had been through.

‘Oh, the Princess. Yes, she’s here… She has been getting a lot of bad news lately, what with the milk – I’m sure you know about it, I can tell - and then there was the one in black who snuck by our defenses…’ ‘The one in black?’ Saria interrupted suddenly.

‘Oh, eh, yes. A man in black visited Zelda, but we never saw him enter the Castle… he was quite the rude fellow, warning Zelda she would be struck with the “curse”, should she try to interfere with a meeting he wanted to have… didn’t make much sense,’ the Guard said.

Saria wasn’t sure what to think, but this frightened Midna a good deal. She knew the Curse had planned a “meeting” with her, for whatever dark reason… and now Zelda was being threatened not to interfere.

‘Did the man in black actually say anything about the meeting?’ Midna inquired. ‘Ah, well, Zelda wasn’t too generous with the details… but the threat was serious enough for her to summon the Hero of Time as her personal bodyguard for the time being,’ he went on.

Midna thought about it, but her thinking was soon rudely interrupted by a familiar voice that made shivers go down her spine. ‘Well, well, well… look who’s a lot closer to Zelda than I want her to be,’ the voice spoke. Midna and Saria quickly turned.

Both of them recognized who was standing there, although it was quite a new experience to Midna. It was the Curse. ‘You know, it’s funny… I told Zelda to steer clear of any large-breasted, bluish skinned women. But that’s hard when they’re at your door…’

Neither Midna nor Saria knew anything to say right now – it was all so ridiculous, and yet so terrible. ‘Ah. I’m sorry for embarrassing you… it was just a little joke. Well, in every case, I’ve made it so that if Zelda comes within a square meter of you, she gets Cursed!’

Midna gasped. ‘You… can do that?’ ‘Oh, not just, snap, like that. I have a tool at the ready, though,’ he said, and though his face was unseen, his words almost made them feel the invisible smirk on his face.

‘But don’t treat me like the villain again. I could worsen both your situations significantly right now if I wanted to, you know. But I’m just trying to protect myself, you see?’ he said. Midna’s jaw nearly dropped at the slip-up the Curse had just made.

‘So, my meeting with Zelda poses a serious threat to him…?’ Midna wondered, but she made sure not to show any sign of a plan or realization. ‘Alright then,’ she muttered. The Guard who had been listening finally stepped forward.

‘Hey, are you the person who snuck into the Castle? You’re under arrest,’ he said, aiming his spear. ‘Oh, really?’ the Curse said, throwing a ball-shaped object at him. As it struck him, it exploded and a cloud of gas surrounded him. He, and Midna and Saria collapsed.

‘… Whoops,’ the Curse said, looking at the three sleepers. He quickly disappeared from the scene when he saw some people coming in their direction.
__

Midna was the first to open her eyes. Drowsily, she looked up at Zelda and gasped. ‘No! Don’t get ne— …’ she began, but then she realized Zelda had been within a meter’s range already. She sighed, and prayed there wouldn’t be consequences.

Saria and the guard came to minutes thereafter, and none of them were particularly pleased by the surrounding group of guards. ‘Back to your posts, everyone,’ Zelda said, noticing the awkwardness. The guards all turned and headed in several directions.

She turned to Midna. ‘Who are you? I believe a man in black warned me… not to interfere with his meeting… with you,’ she said. Midna scrambled to her feet. ‘That’s a very long story to tell. Is there anywhere where we can sit d--’ she started, when they all heard a loud noise.

The noise didn’t stop – it went on as a consecutive string of what seemed like huge explosions, each of which made the earth shiver. And as they turned in the direction the noise was coming from, all of their jaws dropped.

I felt bad for taking so long, so I tried my best to write a longer bit. I didn't get to any process yet, though... but it'll come. Probably next chapter.

Ohhhh, I bet I know what those 'explosions' are from. I wonder if you-know-who's succumbed to the pleasure of the curse yet?
