If all the research on cosmetic surgery were put into cancer research, we'd have had a cure years ago! Hell, we may not even have a common cold anymore! Imaging all the things that could have been done with that time! Although I do see how this field can help people too.

Not really. Cancer cannot be cured do to its very nature. It is usually deformed cells that clump together and grow. Of course there are other variants but most of them are the same, just diffrent places in the body. The common cold will never be removed because it is one of the most rapidly changing viruses.

Actually, it could hypothetically be cured if we could find a way to stick a knife into the cells' ability to divide or into their ability to hide from white blood cells, which is an approach that some researchers have been taken. But I have to agree. The hardest part about trying to fight cancer is the fact that it isn't an outside organism. It's really just your body starting to break down and malfunction.

Actually, they're into the human testing phase of a drug that's been on the market for so long the patent is gone on it. It's used to treat neurological disorders but the realized that it also appeared to cure one person's benign cancer. As it turns out, when a cell becomes cancerous, it's biologicial clock (figuratively speaking, literally speaking it's a chemcial process) is put on hold. This drug not only turns the cancer cells clock back on, it makes it so that it was always on, leading to the destruction of the cancerous cell, provided it lived longer than its natural life span.

Didn't we already cover that option...? The effect varies literally from person to person, and typically to maintain any changes (a cup size or two at most) they have to stay on that pill. As soon as they stop taking it, the effects vanish, because it's basically just swelling/water weight.
