Re: SheWolf crowd funded project
No, sorry, maybe it's my fault if I misunderstood your intentions. My only concern was being father-like and warning all of you about the risks for a project like this.
Just a question, those 50,000$ are based on similar previous experiences, or is it something "temptative"? I am not an expert of FX projects, but I always assumed that the best way to reduce costs in this case could be being lucky enough to collaborate with a tandem of a TF-fan girl with some acting skills who will offer to work for not a very expensive fee, and a FX entrepreneur with time to spend and the courage to organize all this. After these two assumptions, you could need the following: hiring lighting equipment, hiring cameras, an edition suit (hardware and software), and optionally some money for the location, catering and transportation. The final expenses would come from the materials and tools needed to make the prosthetics, of course. Have I missed anything? Could we get an idea about how much all this would cost? |

Re: SheWolf crowd funded project
I haven't heard back from Miro about doing a CGI version of American Werewolf in London only female but with all the stress of his GirlFriends4Ever movie, I'm sure he's taking it easy and trying to get rid of the backlogs of people trying to download it still. That release would have put a damper on anybody's spirits, so hopefully I will eventually hear a yes or no from him soon. I'd also ask Gryf but he never replies to anybody's inquires about doing a CGI film either which is sad because he deserves to get paid for his incredible work.
As for doing a female werewolf using prosthetic parts more or less on par with the original American Werewolf, well, I haven't seen anything posted here from thenightwolf since he put out his question to the people he knows that could build the parts to get it made. It's sort of hard to do much of anything with only a shopping list and no idea where to buy anything on it. If anybody knows people in either genre of film making, give them a ring, put the feelers out there, find some cost numbers and I'm sure the community will then be able to decide whether it's worth it to push forward or not.

Re: SheWolf crowd funded project
I'm still waiting to hear back from some of my contacts. The film industry is notoriously slow when it comes to the execution of work and ideas. The planning takes a decent bit of time. I don't think we should give up on this just because it's been about a week with no new updates. Keep the faith and we could be rewarded with a proper She-wolf. : )

You better take your meds.
We're of course talking about this community, as in The Process, the people that normally visit and contribute to this site that you're asking that absurd question on. How could it involve anyone else if they're not going to come here and give any input into it? People outside this site would eventually see it, but it would clearly be here first. |

Re: SheWolf crowd funded project
Too small to make it happen? Okay, well since all we can do is guess a number from our assholes since nobody knows how much doing a good prosthetic or CGI werewolf film would cost, lets go in reverse.
If 2, 205 members on The Process were to donate some money, lets see what we'd come up with. If 2,205 people gave: $5~ we'd raise: $11,025 $10~ we'd raise: $22,050 $25~ we'd raise: $55,125 $50~ we'd raise: $110,250 $100~ we'd raise: $220,500 That's not quite realistic to assume that every member we have around here could donate the same amount or that we'd have as many donations as we have members. Well, what if half the members donated some money? So if 1,100 people donated: $5~ we'd raise: $5,500 $10~ we'd raise: $11,000 $25~ we'd raise: $27,500 $50~ we'd raise: $55,000 $100~ we'd raise: $110,000 Obviously again, to expect 1,100 people to donate might seem high, but I've seen lesser projects and ideas get almost double the number of donators/backers to a project. Even if only 1,100 people donated anywhere from $25 to $50 and some would probably donate more, some less, depending on how long we allow the money to come in (a month, 3 months, 6 months), the amount of money we could raise could easily top $50,000 or more. A lot of people can donate a little and make a huge difference, it just takes more time. And for a project like this, time is exactly what it would take. How long have we been waiting on Freeborn? They have props, trailers, actors and actresses and a storyline. So where's the rippling clothes and furry breasts? And they have a hell of a lot more people backing them than we have members here and they're still not done. I applaud their efforts, but we're not looking to make a full length movie, only one scene with one girl and some bad ass effects. At most a 5 minute scene that would set a new standard for werewolf transformation. That is doable, IF we get the numbers, IF those numbers are realistic and IF we have the people that want to make it happen. Don't sit here and tell me 2,205 people aren't enough to raise money. If even HALF that were to donate something, we could raise enough to make it happen, and that is being realistic. You don't need a shit ton of people to get shit done. This is just some simple math and numbers I threw out there, it doesn't mean we couldn't do better if all the people that are interested get together to make it happen.

Re: SheWolf crowd funded project
Rei-Lin, thank you for all the behind-the-scenes stuff you do for this hobby. I know you've had your hand in helping imagine some of the stuff out of TMC and Missa's transformations too, and your work has created a lot of great things. If someone as gifted as Miro can do this CGI, or someone else in live action, this is definitely worth funding. So thank you - a lot of stuff I've really liked wouldn't have happened without your drive.

From R/L experience I'd say
220 people -if you're a optimist 22 people -if you're a pessimist

Using the Process member list as a baseline is foolish. Most members aren't regular posters. Most regular forum members aren't into TF (as opposed to BE, B2E, AR/AP, etc) and even a lot of TF fans wouldn't be interested in a werewolf TF vid specifically. A lot of people, probably more than you think, will plead poverty or just not want to pony up the money. That leaves a number far smaller than the 2200 members you're basing your calculations on. If thatnightwolf can get some technical expertise to tentatively sign on, get a minimum budget together and start soliciting money ASAP. If you can't make that minimum budget in a reasonable timeframe, there's no point in continuing.

You also have to take into account how many people want to help but can't. I'd pump hundreds of dollars directly down Gryf's tailpipe if I had hundreds of dollars, unfortunately I'm in no position to put 5 dollars down.
