That is because undead, at least in the D&D cosmology, receive power from the negative energy plane, while living creatures receive it from the positive energy plane. Negative energy cancels out positive and vice-versa. Therefore healing spell, which channel positive energy, harm undead.

Anyway, magic beats technology for killing zombies. Never seen a zombie get back up after a Lord Of Vermilion spell before. Holy magic is the best though.

Well, when I started this pic she was a zombie, however, my mind split for a moment, What about a BE Tyrant?(true to resident evil form) and just let the pencil do the work, I think I'm gonna have to ink it to get the details to show better, but just in case something goes insane(pen explodes, evil ninjas from the black abyss attack, or I eat it in my sleep)
