Re: MIA: The Death List
Well even though Demyxia said she isn't making tf art anymore, she did say "I'll keep the account up for you guys and still post TF on the rare occasions that I draw it." So shes not dead, more like semi-retired if that makes sense.

Ranzab does commissions pretty frequently on FA.

Re: MIA: The Death List
It looks like nagasden.com is down, it's been timing out for a while. Anyone have info on that? (last update was July 2011 I think)
I know there is a http://murryandlewy.com/ comic from time to time still. EDIT : back up! Last edited by geneticks; 11-08-2012 at 01:39 AM. Reason: change of wording |

Re: MIA: The Death List
Just a suggestion: Given the negative connotations of the word "Dead," may I suggest something like "Gone," "Left," "Quit," or "Inactive" instead?
I know, it may seem like I'm nitpicking. I'm a writer, words are what I do. Besides, the term it seems inappropriate to me, given that one artist (Liger) did, as far as can be confirmed, legitimately die.

Re: MIA: The Death List
I have to ask: Why are there no TF writers on this list? I'd like to believe they've contributed just as much creatively to the community. A few people missed seeing my work when I went off the grid for a few years; I can't be the only writer that's experienced that, or has been searched for when they left or took a hiatus.
Just because your talent lies in words and not pencils or photomanips doesn't mean you're any less important, or any less missed.

Re: MIA: The Death List
Possibly because writers have a less automatically identifiable style?

Re: MIA: The Death List
I have to disagree. Tone, subject matter, phrase style, recurring characters and settings, story length...these and more can make a writer stand out. If you're familiar enough with a writer's style, you can tell.

Re: MIA: The Death List
Agreed. Writers tend to be left out though, I have seen a LOT of good writers around here who simply don't get much attention simply because visual artwork in the form of a picture or a sequence is more impactful and require less thought processing. Basically people have to take longer reading a story in order to get what it means than looking at a picture.

Re: MIA: The Death List
Hexen, I too feel that writers don't get enough attention, and feel quite the same as you do about the reasons why. I can't help but wonder if it was because of a lack of writers in the beginning of the genre. I don't really remember to many writers when I first got into the genre.
Just some food for thought. If a picture is literally worth a thousand words, then a story that's about 6-10 pages is equal to 4 pictures. I agree with Lycanthrokeith, while he never comes out and says it, writers aren't revered quite as much as artists, which is unfortunate because writers have the ability to open your mind to worlds that you never knew existed. And while I love a good TF pic, or photomanip, I'm sure it took as long to create a picutred work of art as any story every written. Pictures can be enjoyed by all, but a truly refined conisour of the genre is able to appreciate the word smithing of a respectable writer. (I hope nobody is offended by this post, as no offense was meant be conveyed.) Last edited by ryansgalant; 11-15-2012 at 02:29 PM. Reason: spelling |

Re: MIA: The Death List
I think many of the active writers today produce material that far exceeds the quality of the stuff produced by many of the older writers (that have either stopped writing or disappeared). My favourite stories have all been written in the last 2-3 years, and I've been reading stories since docs lab was back on furvect servers, the old transformation story archive was thriving and there was a fairly high volume of stories being uploaded to tfcentral. In saying that, there are a couple of short story series' that I'd love to see continued. Darkcousin's Pills series springs to mind.
