Depicting a human into Vampire Transformation
Hi Guys,
I'm in the process of putting together a short film that will include a girl being transformed into a vampire due to a badly worded wish. Other than the standard claws, teeth and eyes. What other aspects would you like to see? I'm considering skin colour changes and maybe pointed ears. What do you guys think? |

Shimmering skin during daylight @_@!!
Seriously though that is pretty much up to you since it is your mythos and your production, the core idea of the vampire is a being that needs to sustain itself by leeching vital energy from living creatures so that could be anything from draining someone's soul to drinking blood or other bodily fluids.

Vampires are usually depicted as very lithe yet strong (male and female). Not sure how accurate that is to lore

You could always top it off with a quick transformation into a bat or a wolf.

Thanks for your posts guys.
I'm actually wanting to keep away from the bat and wolf things for now as it would look rubbish with the budget we have and not add anything to the story They will however be strong and fast as well as having other abilities. |

I'd say: definitely long pointed ears. It's often forgotten/overlooked/ignored but to me feels like an essential part of a vampire. A link to their more batlike or wolflike nature without having to go all the way.
And as for skin colour changes, best to stay away from anything sparkly. making it paler wouldnt be bad though if done in moderation. It can otherwise backfire and come across as cheap. |

I was meaning more in flesh colour etc, so more pale for example. Missa has done a great vampire sequence as well so might look at that one again for ideas. |

Well... yeah if you go with the European vampire they are basically walking corpses that drink blood in order to stand and retain their human traits, so from that a vampire could literally be a person with sharp fangs but getting corpse/feral traits would make things interesting.

basically they stay young etc as long as they feed, the longer they don't feed the more corpse like they become

In regards to the narrative, how long will the transformation take?
Minutes? Days? Years? Somewhere in-between? |

I'd go with pale skin, blood-red lips, slightly accentuated eyebrows, and either red or blue contact lenses for the eyes, if you can afford it. I've always thought Lucy from Francis Ford Coppola's version of "Dracula" was an ideal take on a vampire:
