Weaponized Devolution, Input Needed

A story idea I've been rolling around in my head is the government develops a new type of weapon that causes people to devolve into primitive ape-like creatures. The general premise is a young, down on her luck women agrees to be a test subject. Obviously there will be the detailed process of her feet changing. But I do have some questions.

1. What type of weapon? Ray? Gas? Injection?

2. The aforementioned foot process. How should the foot change? Instep grows smaller and big toe become opposable?

3. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

Answering the three proposed questions:

1- Ray or gas are more unrealistic but provides easier and faster ways to devolve people than an injection (and I hate needles though XD). Also, a good idea could be adding different intensities to the ray so the subject could be transformed in a more or less ape-ish form.

2- About foot change it depends on how much you want the subject to be devolved. Personally I preffer human shaped feet with some changes as thicker nails or a lot of hair in the top but slightly monkey-like feet are a good option too.

3- Most of devolution stories are mainly focused in muscle growth, so maybe you can make a different approach focusing on hair growth or increased libido. Also, you can write about the feeling of being barefoot or even link that sensation to arousal.

Just take this as a recommendation, I'm a hughe fan of your work so I'm sure you'll write another masterpiece ^^

Damn, you work fast. *lol* I guess my vote is moot at this point, but I always think rays are fun. As Ivan states, it makes the most realistic sense if the mcguffin is supposed to be a weapon. Also, without waxing a bunch of literary analysis, there's a clear allusion to a gun - and injection to a certain extent - representing a penis that acts upon the transformee.

Yeah, once I got rolling on it, it just flew out. I think I wrote the whole thing in about 45 minutes. The idea is this is supposed to be a battlefield weapon. Although I'm not sure if it violates the Geneva Convention.

I've actually had several requests for a Part 2. So any ideas?

I would suggest a field test, preferably an officially unsanctioned field test on an unsuspecting bae. Because any shadowy government and ambitious scientist aren't going to let things like ethics and an IRB get in the way of seeing how their new experimental weapon works on someone in the general population.
