I'm not sure if I understand the appeal of RC, but I thought I'd see what I can do.

Not sure exactly what race that thing was supposed to turn him into, really...and depending on your answer, that strip is actually really racist.

Oh, and also: where the hell did the pool come from? Did a "Race Change gun" conjure that up, too?

It's not that kind of race. He's now in a swimming race rather than a car race. Iow: You've been PUNNED!

Hawkeye and Test got it right. I don't think that swimmers are genetically inferior to car racers.

But I do wonder how many people interpreted it Wildside's way. Maybe it was because I used the movie photo in the last shot? That was a last minute decision because it was the exact right facial expression that was hard to draw. There is something of a science to gag drawing that I am exploring. You have to guide the reader through certain expectations and implications so that you can confound expectations later - so it's important to know if people are misreading my work.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if that squint that the actor does is a homage to Speedy's japanese origin.

In the old cartoons Speed and his family are not ethnically asian. They are drawn as more western/american.
