Alternative to Photoshop

So when I moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10 I lost Photoshop. I had Photoshop premiere elements 9 before. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good alternative?

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

Dunno your feelings on F/LOSS, but there's some commonality with different bits of Photoshop Elements in Gimpshop, Inkscape, and Blender, depending on what specifically you need.

https://inkscape.org/en/release/0.92.3/
https://www.blender.org/download/

Thank you for the links I will check them out. All I really need it for now is making giantess/ shrinking women pictures.

Though I tried gimp already and just could not get it to work. It made MS paint look amazing.

Edit:

Inkscape and Blender are not what I need. And Gimp can't even do basic things right. I hate it already after a day. So I got rid of it.

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

The problem with gimp runs all the way down to the name. How the hell is anyone supposed to know something called gimp be an art program? That said It beat out Paintshop Pro as my low budget art tool of choice years ago because once you get around the insane naming of many of its features and figure it out it's pretty good.

I use Pixelmator, but you probably aren't allowed to have it.

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

I love GIMP and find it to be a very powerful tool -

But I don't think it's as intuitive as Photoshop, and if you're used to using Photoshop, it'll fuck with you hard until and unless you get used to it. It's my understanding that the two don't do almost anything the same way, so you have to adjust your thinking and untrain yourself from Photoshop. (Having gotten used to GIMP, I've actually had difficulty using Photoshop when I've tried.)

GIMP beats the pants off MS Paint, though. Don't be silly. And it's widely accepted that GIMP is the best free alternative to Photoshop.

Maybe give it another shot and look up some tutorials for it online?

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

They're not for everyone, and if the fit's wrong, the fit's wrong.
That said, I pushed Gimpshop specifically because the UI is redesigned to more closely match Photoshop, but if you're looking for 1:1 parity in both features and design, that can only be achieved with Photoshop. Thank software patents for that.

Well I did look up some and they didn't seem very help full.

I guess I can give it another try. But it was very frustrating to get even simple things to work.

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

Another reason for pushing Gimpshop over vanilla GIMP:
IIRC, the default PSD add-on doesn't handle existing alpha layers well, you would've had to export XCF beforehand. Gimpshop PSD is tweaked to correctly import those.

Re: Alternative to Photoshop

If it has to be free then I cannot help much but if you are willing to be patient

try Clip studio Pro (formerly Manga Studio)

https://www.clipstudio.net/en

It does cost 50 bucks but get on their mailing list and often they have sales where you might be able to get it for half price.

I cannot recommend the program enough especially if you are trying self teach yourself digital art...
