Re: Dragon Ball Super Episode 100 BE/MG

I could imagine Goku would tell them something along the lines of, "Hey, Zan-chan! We could have another exciting tournament, but you erased all the other universes. If only there were a way to bring them back."

Plus, I'm not sure if it is important that there needs to be an even number of universes. From the start, it was established that there were about twenty before being reduced to twelve, and four universes were excluded from the tournament. After which, there will be five left over.

It also wouldn't surprise me if Toriyama decided to take a page from western comics and smash all the universes into one, and be done with it.

I'm okay with merging the universes if it means those female saiyans become part of the main cast.

I don't think it'll happen. Ever heard of the trope categories, Doomed by Canon, and Saved by Canon? For those that have seen Dragon Ball GT, you know that Goku's universe is going to end up fine.

GT doesn't count for anything though.

Yeah, GT is off being its own separate universe/timeline via Xenoverse games.

In any case, we already know U7 will end up fine, since Super takes place before the end of Z.

Um? It's post Buu Saga, with GT omitted, so it's after Z.

Specifically before that one chapter/episode where we see little toddler Pan in the martial arts tournament and before Goku went off to train Uub. Which is the end of Z, and in age 784. Super isn't a sequel series, so much as it is really large chunks of filler. And you can't say that it takes place after Z when Pan and Bulla were only just born in Super.

It is after Z. It is a sequel, that last scene you're referencing would only serve as bookending for the story if it repeats at the end of Super. It might not happen at all, due to alternate timelines being a thing, that stuff isn't set in stone.

We'll just have to agree to disagree, then, even if we are talking about the exact same thing. That being Super does take place after the Majin Buu saga, but fills in the ten-year gap between that and the last two chapters of the Dragon Ball Z manga.

There'd be a stronger case that it happens in between if anyone introduced in Super that hadn't been seen in Z up until that moment were there at the end of Z. If Beerus were just standing on the sideline of Z or in the background and everyone was like "Oh, who's this hairless cat guy?" and we didn't find out until 20 years later that there'd been this epic series of arcs involving the gods, then sure. Or.. if Goku had gone blue at the end of Z. But we're seeing people and forms that were not present in the final chapter or the final episode of Z. It's called a retcon, that's all it is. They retconned the ending of Z, and retconned GT out of continuity entirely, to allow Super to happen.

Re: Dragon Ball Super Episode 100 BE/MG

I'm not arguing that a retcon isn't being applied. My argument is about Super's placement in the timeline. It's too early to tell, so we just have to wait and see until Super ends.

They have confirmed that the ending of Z is still canon.
