Re: New Smash Bros!

Happy to see that Shiek is still there, and extra glad that she and Zelda are now separate characters on the select screen. No more accidentally switching to Zelda mid fight, and they both get a new down+B since the transformation mechanic is removed.

Re: New Smash Bros!

Megaman's final smash is amazing! Especially the fact that Megaman Volnutt is there! Nintendo managed to do great justice to the Megaman franchise in one shot while Capcom on the other hand has been giving us nothing but crap and more crap...

Re: New Smash Bros!

While it is cool that we're getting more playable Pokemon (fuck yes, Charizard!), I still wish that the Trainer would make a return, only as the female character from X/Y. And her team would consist of Chesnaught, Frogadier and Fennekin.

Re: New Smash Bros!

Well, given how Sakurai said they're removing the "transforming character" mechanic, I'm thinking a trainer of any sort is out.

This saddens me greatly.

Re: New Smash Bros!

Just have the trainer actively fight. He can throw poke balls to temporary capture opponents.

Re: New Smash Bros!

I can kinda see why they took out Pokemon Trainer(Red)

When you look back at Brawl, you had 5 Gen-1 representatives (6 if you count Red himself) and then Lucario, who was there to show off the at the time current Gen (as well as to replace Mewtwo :/)

So it makes sense to have a character to show off the current generation, as well as to not have such a large cast of the Pokemon characters being set from the same era (Even if it's the best one :P) Plus, I assume we will have the known release date for "Pokemon Z" by the time the Wii U version is released, so it's a product placement thing.

Speaking of product placement, Charizard and Lucario. If it wasn't for the fact that they were given mega forms, they might've not been considered either. Lucario had a greater chance of staying in, though they could've replaced him with Mewtwo now that they're on equal footing. And as much as I love Charizard, he probably would've been cut, even though I feel he has a very unique character build (Large/Heavy floaty character, only Dedede is that similar, and they were both just added in Brawl) So i'm happy to see Charizard back in the fold, and no longer weighted down by that "Fatigue" system that came with Pokemon Trainer (The only thing that made me dislike Red to begin with)

In regards to Greninja, I think it's a good choice. Rosalina is kind of the "Mage-ish" type character, and with Charizard reppin' the Fire types, Delphox wasn't needed, and we have enough big brutes to kick Chessnaught to the curb (Plus his oddly similar appearance to Bowser may have been a deciding factor.) Greninja seems to be, at least gameplay wise, our new Squirtle, a small, fast fighter, so I actually quite like it.

Re: New Smash Bros!

Plus he's a ninja. As a fighting game, Smash Bros was lacking in the mandatory amount of ninja characters for a fighting game. Now it goes from a half of one to two. Kind of have to be careful though. There are a lot of Pokémon I'd like to see, but then we could just have a pokemon Wii U spin off themed after smash bros. (actually that sounds like a good idea.)

Mhmm, even if he's a frog ninja, he's still a ninja :P which is a nice bonus to have on top of Shiek, who i'm also glad is back in the fold now.

Curious to see who's left on the list. If it's true and Sakurai isn't trolling us and Ridley is still out, I'm not really sure what other "Major" characters are left to add at this point. Honestly the only guy I could think of is K. Rool, but even then I think he fits much better as an assist trophy (I mean if Waluigi is still an assist trophy over a playable guy, K. Rools got no chance :P)

Re: New Smash Bros!

I just want to know two major things, really: Whether Mewtwo is back this time, and whether Ganondorf's done being Captain Falcon.

Re: New Smash Bros!

Curious as to why the 3DS version comes out before the WiiU Ver----Okay not really. It's so people will all buy the 3DS version to get it ASAP and then buy the WiiU one when it comes out, thus increasing profits! BRILLIANT NINTENDO, BRILLIANT!

Re: New Smash Bros!

I can't argue with the points made, just that my want for the Trainer is simply that. When they first did it in Brawl, playing as Red with his little team was exactly how I wished Pokemon games would go in the future. Or, in a spin-off game, at least.
