There is a flaw in your solution, the red headed gene is not a dominant gene... at least I don't think it is. What we must do is gather all pure redheads and have a giant redheaded orgy! That's correct, the red head gene isn't a dominant gene. Just like the blond gene isn't. When a blond and dark hair couple copulate, the dark gene is the dominate gene. The only way to produce a plethora of red heads would be for both partners to be red heads and have a giant orgy would need to happen every season or so, so a large quantity of offspring is produced. We will then have to wait for the children to grow, and then allow them to copulate at this point allowing for the third generation of red heads to become a more prominent gene pool.

Or, alternatively, we could do a lot of careful gene splicing to ensure that redheads exist.

I think the technology's available, just not as fun as the orgy option.

Well it's a bit more complicated in practice.

My father has black hair and his first wife had red. My half brother born from that union has red hair.

My brother's first wife had black hair and they had two kids. Their son has blond hair and their daughter has red.

Yeah, it's confusing...

Naw not the mailman, Genetics is a bit more complicated than Dominant gene recessive gene, it is all about percentages and actual genes present, Your average brown haired guy might have genes for blond or red hair, if he mates with another brown haired woman who has recessive blond or red genes then chances are 1 in 4 they will produce a red haired child. Of course it is definitively more complex than that but will work as a rough explanation.

You think that's something? In my family you had a father with black hair, mother with dark red hair, commonly called auburn, and the children, 3 redheads, 1 blonde, and one brunette. Not one kid with black hair.
