I like what he's proposing, but it completely ignores the fact that - for all intents and purposes - the public domain is dead, from a legal standpoint. What's the problem with getting talent to sign onto the MIT licence, where the judicial system no longer recognizes the abandonment of all ownership rights?

Not sure, but sticking your fingers in your ears when you're told you can't wholly disclaim ownership, and handwaving away the legal principle of licensing your content, tends to not go over real well with the judiciary.

Technically yes, but since it's (presumably) his own material, that'd be like banning any other contributor for posting their own art here. My concern is that he's declaring "public domain" where one's legally unenforceable - an action that could cause legal issues for contributors in the future.
