Maybe that means I like GTS "erotica" rather than "porn"? I feel like the things that make the giantess fetish unique (the growth, clothes ripping, size comparisons, cramped spaces, and dealing with the real world implications of something as outlandish as someone's size having drastically changed) often get rushed or skipped over to get to the more traditional "porn action".

I guess I'm just weird that way.
"I want a story! I want to know what financial dire straits have forced this woman to pay in blowjobs for pizza delivery, cable installation, and home repairs and maintenance!"

Sexual content is nice to have, especially with the ways that size alteration makes for bizarre and interesting new things to try. But if you just want porn, well, the internet is already full of that. If you're making size fetish porn, it's nice to focus on the things that are actually about size fetish.

And here I was thinking it was all just a thinly veiled excuse to show people having sex when in reality it was a deep tapestry of meaningful thought-provoking literary tales and social commentary... you've opened my eyes to the truth!

My point exactly.

"We live in a world where porn is post-scarcity. If I gave you a budget of zero dollars and asked you to find me some titties, do you know how many you'd find? All of them. All of the titties."

Re: Has the bottom fallen out of the growth/GTS paid content market?

I have to second everything I've read in this thread. Getting comics made is just so dang expensive and there's no guarantee, for a multitude of reasons, you'll even get the finished product.

And as for story, for everything I get made I always tried to keep the set up on the first page and get to the growing on the second! I wish I had a budget for some comics right now because the current crop that focuses on the sex (and some other stuff) just ain't doing it for me :/

There's also the consideration that, for whatever reason, the porn sells more than the growth stuff. Look at ZZZ's works. Mostly porn. But he's still doing it and it's not like he doesn't know how to do growth focused stuff. I have to believe that he tried it, failed, and is seeing more success with straight up porn and a hint of growth.

It's a good point, and I believe you are right. If you look at ZZZ's older material, it's mostly process-related and Mount Olympus Comics is all about Growth/GTS/FMG comics without any adult content.

However, this gets us no closer to a resolution to the problem stated by qzar9999. I find myself less and less inclined to buy content that is "straight up porn and a hint of growth". Now, I don't think there is anything wrong with artists going where the money is. If they are better able to make a living doing content that is mostly standard porn, good luck to them and best wishes, but I will probably not be buying it. I can get standard porn for free elsewhere.

From the responses to this thread, there are least a few others in the same frame of mind.

Is there a solution? I don't know. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. I would hate to think that this particular corner of the fetish world was never large enough to support paid content.

I never studied economics, but I think if you could find another example you would be able to emulate it. An example of a niche market that a seller was able to succeed in with a unique kind of business model that wouldn't necessarily work if the market was more robust.

I don't think it's so much that it's unable to support paid content.

I think it's more like what the SciFi Channel did with Eureka.

"I mean, yeah, this is making us money. It's definitely turning a profit. But check it out - we can make MORE money off this other thing that we put LESS effort into. Let's just do that instead, and to hell with the first thing."

(Why yes, I'm still bitter about Eureka, thanks for asking!)

Re: Has the bottom fallen out of the growth/GTS paid content market?

I wouldn't think that producing one kind of comic over another requires a different level of effort, though. If you're a creative person the ideas just flow like water. Even if you are having a dry spell, the community doesn't mind if you recycle ideas and present them a different way, i.e., same premise, different actress/model/outfit. Or if you were aiming to produce a 10 page comic, devoting 4 pages to setup, 4 pages to growth, and 2 pages to aftermath shouldn't be much different than having, like, the last 5 pages all be sex.

Gary has tried a different kind of business model in being totally custom-dependent. It's clunky, but I'm sure it's more lucrative. If we throw out some ideas, there might be another better way.

Re: Has the bottom fallen out of the growth/GTS paid content market?

Where comics are concerned, you may have a point about the effort (though it IS easier to find artists when you're not getting "weird" stuff drawn). But even then, if you can put in the same amount of effort and get more returns, it makes sense that a lot of folks would.

I was more referring to video makers with the "less effort" thing. I mean shit, look at Taylor or Missa. They used to produce all kinds of size fetish stuff, but clearly expansion and futanari (respectively) are easier and turn just as much or more profit.
