People are probably responding to the way the eyes are drawn. In the first two I think the combination of eyelashes and the way the light (or the white, for the first picture) kind of cuts across the iris makes the eyes look unsettling. Also the more detailed textures are a bit at odds with the more stylized proportions (the big eyes, in particular.)

In comparison, the last picture looks good, because the clean lineart fits the stylized proportions and the eyes don't have the extra detail that makes them look unsettling.

At least, that's what stood out to me. Hope that helps!

There's a difference, though, between "the eyes don't look right, consider doing X" and saying things like "this is a nightmare," "this damaged me," and "I'll pay you to stop."

Yeah, I know for my eyes! I'm trying to improve them! (I'm looking at the Disney eyes these days!)

On the other side, the images I work on are fairly small!

This is such a worthless post. There's isn't a single Sonic OC in it. Nightmare.
