I've read the graphic novel this is based on. It's the most depressing piece of pseudo-cerebral dreck I've ever come across. Basically, the message boils down to "We're all gonna die, so kill yourself now to avoid the misery and humiliation you'll inevitably have to experience." I don't care if that wasn't the author's intent, that's what the fucking story told me. Count me out.

You could say this is old news. Ha ha... ha...

Yeah, like Dr. Otto said, this is based on a really depressing graphic novel. Like it even turned me off from age progression for a week.

Even if it was base on amazing Graphic Novel. It is still Hollywood in 2020 and beyond. So I would not expect any great process or content.

Re: OLD - trailer ap and expansion

To be fair, I was the first to announce the trailer on the Super Bowl. And judging by the posts here, I don't think anyone would wish to see the movie, as it will end the same way as the graphic novel. If you wish to skip it, go right ahead. I don't want to see it myself, even if it is about age progression.

The graphic novel was boring and depressing, so really it's perfect for Shyamalan

IKR! Just from the trailer, this film looks horrifying. I wonder if there is some kind of record for fewest views per screening?

If I may, I believe the author's intent was to warn us not to waste our lives. The sandcastle motif was a metaphor for our tendency to lose ourselves in trivial pursuits. The story of the "Half Man" emphasizes the tragedy of missed opportunities. It's a theme which really got to me, since these are real fears that many of us grapple with as we age.

But yeah, it is incredibly depressing, and I don't even like thinking about it. In fact, I almost wish I'd never laid eyes on the thing. I was not equipped to handle something that upsetting, and it kind of left a scar.

Still, I respect the integrity of the message. The story is a scare tactic, but it does successfully speak to powerful emotions. It's a very visceral sort of horror book which unnerved me more than maybe any scary story I ever read, and for that I have to give it credit. Not every story was meant to be enjoyed. It's sure as Hell not to my tastes, and I question whether or not it actually improved my life or simply brought me down, but there are surely many readers who really dig that sort of thing.
