The ring falling off was a nice TG touch. Other then that, your normal modern day regeneration.

I liked it. They didn't go for any cheap shots (i.e. the Doctor marveling over her "new bits"), although there's still the debut episode. Differently colored regeneration energy might have been a nice touch, to indicate this change is unlike any that's happened to him before.

I would have appreciated maybe one moment about the Doctor wondering if there was a helium leak in the TARDIS upon hearing her new voice before seeing her reflection.

I thought it was a pretty good regeneration, for a pretty good episode.
I do wish though, that when she looked at her reflection she would have sighed and said "Still not Ginger".

How could the first Doctor be like that if he knew that there was ever a chance of him regenerating into a woman? It just makes the whole thing into a continuity error.

Nah. Too obvious.

*The Doctor regenerates into Karen Gillian*

"I'm finally Ginger, but I look like Amelia Pond for some reason."

Just something I commissioned from Cluedog a while back. It's definitely related to this thread, trust me.
