Fictional Character Transformation?
What do any of you think of the idea of normal people turning into fictional characters? Would the concept make a compelling story?

Re: Fictional Character Transformation?
I had a story synopsis based on that (never wrote it so feel free to use it). Basically cosplayers turn into live-action versions of the characters they're dressed as, but actually look and act like them. Ex.- one was a girl dressed as Revvy from Black Lagoon but was IRL white, overweight, and average at best in looks, but the transformation made her asian, trim, and hot but also gave her Revvy's messed-up personality and combat skills.
Another aspect to the idea was that cosplayers could switch back and forth between their RL forms and up to two similar characters based on genre but could turn into a third character that would be a permanent form for them. One guy cosplayed as a Gundam and had a secondary form as a Patlabor and ultimately had to take on the form of Metal Gear Ray to escape drowning, forever stuck as a machine with a human AI.

Re: Fictional Character Transformation?
seen this concept before on the Transformation Story Archive mailing group, the actual site hasn't been updated since 1997 btw, two shared story universes stand dut
One is called "No More Fakes" where a witch fed up with Halloween casts a spell that transforms people into their costumes, I'm not sure where to find the stories. Second is Xanadu where a Scifi Con Chair decided to wear authentic Native American mask depicting the trickster god Raven, and of course it has the real power of Raven. The con goers become their costumes. I haven't real all the stories so I can't direct you to one with a ton of Process in em http://shifti.org/wiki/Category:Xanadu here is the main story page These ones I wrote http://shifti.org/wiki/Pokemon_Master ok this is male to male cartoon character so not process. http://shifti.org/wiki/The_Latex_Vixen ok so this one IS TG process but I didn't go into detail on the change so much, and yes this is an OC who is depicted as such not as if there were part of known media. still Xanadu is a good setting for process into fictional characters, it sets up you backstory and justification. Your character goes to the convention in costume and is caught up in the spell or gets changed by someone who was. |
