Lightbulb DC Comics: Bobbie Stephenson & Ms. Hyde

Hi there,

As some may know, and to their possible bemusement as well, I am something of a enthusiast for the exploration of that classical dichotomy found in Jekyll and Hyde. In that respect, I was browsing recently when I hit upon a remarkably singular interpretation of this classic, if somewhat obscure.

As in many of my posts, this will require a little context ...

Though I'm unsure of the precise dates, it seems that DC comics undertook a mini-series as part of a wider narrative, back in 2010/2011. Titled Flashpoint: Lois Lane and the Resistance, it depicts a schism in the DC universe which charts an amazon invasion.

In the British respect, we find a particular heroine by the name of Bobbie Stephenson, and with a very particular power, as you may guess. In this, on occasion, she can undergo a transformation into a hulking, grey, bald and seemingly male alter-ego (at least from media I have seen) named ironically as "Ms. Hyde".

The characters obscure as they are, their transformation is more so, though what there is to me is below for the curious.

A Brief transformation from Bobbie to Hyde featured in the "Super Girl Comic Box Commentary" blog http://comicboxcommentary.blogspot.c...ne-and_30.html with the scene here http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nYsCBxvGP_.../Lois+3-01.jpg .

An interesting find, more so for the seeming inclusion of a gender bender incarnation of the theme in a fairly mainstream narrative. From what I can find, the character was not developed beyond this point, which is perhaps a pity. Still, an unusual gem in this universe to find .

Thanks,

Alchemical Night.

In the Image comics Invincible and Guarding to Globe books, a reoccuring character monster girl has a male monster form too.

Never knew about this character until I watched Flashpoint Paradox (rarely read comics). I don't remember if it was mentioned in the commentary or if I found out about the character somewhere else, but yes, this was a very interesting find. I was a little more interested in how the two personalities fought on different sides of the war...at least, that's what I think what happened. :S

Just as a suggestion, maybe you should make a sort of "Alchemical Night's TG Jekyll and Hyde links" thread that you can update whenever you stumble across one of these related works.
