TF-Media...Another bites the dust
Yet another tf milestone has closed the curtains for the last time.
As can be read on the site. http://tf-media.net/

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
Would have been nice to have some warning so I could get my stuff off first. Oh well.

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
Wait, TF-Media closed... again? This time without warning and without putting up the images?
... dumb.

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
I hadn't seen any new stories in 90+ days, it probably didn't help to motivate keeping the site open. Best of luck for whatever the admin(s) and writers do next, hopefully they find a new home.

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
I can't honestly say I'm surprised, new art and stories trickled in way to slowly and weeks would go by before anything new would show up and it would be about 3-4 captions with a possible photomanip thrown in from 1 of the very few still active morphers on the site, in the last few months I gave up on the site mostly because the place was mostly a ghost town during my waking hours.
the website was a great place 5 years ago, I remember sticking around till the very end of not only the website but the IRC chat room it had, I remember when the old site was announced for closure how roughly 80-90% of the members jumped ship several months before it closed. when I got wind of the website last year I knew that TF-Media was just a ticking time bomb, it really didn't help that the guy running the site was too paranoid to appoint any admins/mods to help run the site, the old site was pretty popular back in the day and I met some great people back then too. TF-Media would never recapture the glory it once had, but when it's closed and then reopened by the same guy a few years later, people are going to feel a bit off about it since it was only a matter of time before real life would jump in the way and cause yet a second closure which it has. sorry if I'm repeating myself at times in there, I never really got to say anything about the site in the past, it'll be missed but as I said it's closure comes as no surprise to me and closing it without even a pre warning for people to save their fave images within a time frame wasn't the most professional thing to do, TF-Media was one of my fave hangouts when I was getting into the TF fandom so I wont forget it |

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
Just a quick rule of thumb I try to abide by: don't trust a site run by someone who doesn't trust anyone.
This is the same message that came out the last time TF Media shut down, almost verbatim.

At least last time he had the courtesy to provide a zip file with all the art and stories for people to grab before shutting down.

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
Can't say I'm too choked up to see them go. Most of their content was just tg captions, which I'm not much of a fan of anyway. What little I did post there usually took a week to actually get approved (at least, I had stuff just sitting in there for months) and then when it did go up got very little attention compared to posting on Deviantart. I'd hoped it could be a place that I could post stuff that would be too devious for DA, but that kind of went under. Oh well, if anybody knows some better sites to share tf content let me know.

I'm more torn up that we've lost Foxx's art, which was hosted on that site....

Re: TF-Media...Another bites the dust
I've been making the rounds of most TF sites since the late 90s, and I can honestly say this is the first I've even heard of this site
(or rather, I'd heard so little news about it that I'd completely forgotten about it) Last edited by kattphive; 10-12-2015 at 08:29 PM. |
