Actually I'd really like to see more descriptive and insightful posts like that around here. There are a lot of complex elements to transformation that are often passed over in favor of "Ohh, that's hot!"*

*Not that there's anything wrong with declaring the hotness of things, of course.

Yeah, speaking as someone writing a wiki about this sorta thing, there's nothing wrong with a little enthusiasm.

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

Symbionts are more interesting than Hot to me. As interesting as the potential implications of having symbionts in a story/setting, i have yet to see any setting do much with them beyond a single character/creature.

Shameless plug: For those who like D&D and like it a little dirty, I actually made a race whos whole society revolves around symbionts. Its almost Zerg like in their usage of artifically created creatures to solve problems. Not to get into to much detail but a character of the race is encouraged to collect or "grow" more symbionts as it is a staple of the races culture. There is also a healthy dose of BE splashed in there. To cap it off I posted about a dozen homebrewed symbionts (stats and all) along side the race. http://be-dnd-group.deviantart.com/ has all my stuff, Im Darktiki.

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

Hi there,

In light of how stimulating this subject seems to have been, I returned here again and did some considering. After a search, I am happy to highlight some other instances of symbotic entities and similiar such things. Below is a fairly eclectic mix of concepts .

Firstly, we have a example of the symbiotes conceptual cousin, the bio-suit; a idea in which, as I understand, there is a measure of consciousness and interaction between the entity and the host, though to a lesser extent than the symbiote concept many are familiar with. Though, I believe that the example leans more towards the classical symbiote in basic terms - (also featuring Princess Zelda as the host too) http://fav.me/d1pm3vo .

Next there is a unique, as far as I know, example of Hannya (Japanese female demon) mask posession/symbiosis, possibly - http://fav.me/d4izfg5 http://fav.me/d4iz6j0 .

An interesting idea for costume possession, with elements of cultural transformaton too; essentially a archaeologist to magical harem dancer (with added story and sub-fetish content too) http://fav.me/d26nzv9 http://fav.me/d26o1nm .

These last two are vivid and colourful examples of what I assume to be living armour/costumes (seemingly inspired by or a homage to the Witchblade anime) http://fav.me/d2vav3p http://fav.me/d2wv034 .

I hope these provide some food for thought on this issue .

Thanks,

Alchemical Night.

A mask bonding with, and making the wearer into what they were only pretending to be is always interesting. The Hannya example you linked looks like it could be inspired by the Onibaba story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onibaba_%28film%29.

Also an interesting concept. These sorts of things have a poetic (justice/injustice) aspect to them.

Most notable is the transformation of Agent Jane Blond:

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

Hi again,

Mazoku, thank you for those insights, pics and links; they are most appreciated and give another interesting facet to this concept .

Also, another intriguing find on my side; again from deviantArt.

This conflates two popular forum topics (TG and Everything Else). Though the TG element strong, the principal focus seems to be posession/symbiosis, seemingly, with TG an element of the conclusion.

In all, a male dons a cat mask; undergoing a transformation into a anthro cat girl.

http://fav.me/d3gkquq

The quality and execution, considering resources and subject, I consider to be quite commendable .

Thanks,

Alchemical Night.

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

Hi again,

Searching here and there, I have hit upon a curious, but non the less compelling, and new sub-type in the posession/transformation genre which we have explored here; that being corsets and the remarkable effects they might have, unexpectedly, on the wearer .

First, we have a number of works by the same artist; each focusing upon the misadventures of those who wear a certain "evil corset" - the implication being that every lie told will tighten and further transform the wearer's figure.

These works can be found here http://luckybucket46.deviantart.com/gallery/12698904 .

The second is a work of similiar complexion, in which we find a "Cursed Corset" - a shopping trip culminating in a transformation which conflates the possession/symbiois genre with what could be seen as evil conversion also.

The work can be found here http://fav.me/d4m62md .

Both inventive, remarkable ideas if I can say so .

Thanks,

Alchemical Night.

Just to add this from a collection standpoint, http://www.literotica.com/s/overdose-1 has an interesting approach to the symbiote area as a young woman overdoes the recommended daily allowance of symbiotic goo.

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

The secret characters from Tekken Tag 2 just leaked, and one of them is, I think, Jin's mother. She is a naked lady covered in paint. I don't think there's any gameplay vids of the characters yet, but there's a portrait image of her that might contain a painty-tentacle.

She even has costume parts, so you can cover her in more goo or less goo. This is a brave goo world we are in.

Ooh! A legitimate excuse to show off my own original, symbiote-using character: http://jaebird88.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=gemini

Sorry if there isn't any actual process. I've been so lazy when it comes to sitting down and drawing.

Re: Symbiotes and their ilk

In the Marathon:Evil fan expansion, the Marathon marine faces ancient, hugely powerful creatures that fancy themselves as gods. There are two, Death, who prefers to reanimate machine zombies, and Life, who twists people into hideous monsters.

At one point Life turns the marine into one of his monsters. The human leader identifies him as the unit markings on his armor carried over into his monster form. It is of reminiscent of the bubble gum crisis episode.
