Yes, the Japanese are doing some stem cell stuff... how that's going, I've no idea. It's one of those stories you'll hear repeated a few times but the amount of progress made is never really touched upon... are they in pre-clinical trials? Clinical? You never get these pertinent pieces of information, it seems.

On a semi-related note, I work for a college doing various tasks. And during one of those tasks, I ended up in a building that's pretty much devoted to animal science. There's a poster in one hall that's detailing the results of an experiment. Apparently there's a potential birth defect among mice that leads to insane mammary cell growth, to the point where the picture showing the difference has a normal mouse and one about twice as wide next to it.
Suffice to say, you never know when or where your closet hobby/fetish will kick you in the face. But it immediately made me wonder if medical trials had been undertaken to see how that works on humans, because they were artificially enducing it in the mice.
