BE Story Club Presents: Spells R Us #4

Hey guys, the BE Story Club, who advertises on the site, has just released a long-awaited sequel to the Spells R Us series. If you want to check it out along with all the other illustrated novellas and comics that they have on the website, you can click this banner and get taken care of. If you do that, it'll also help this website, so you'd be doubly cool!

Also, a comic I authored will be making its appearance on the BE Story Club in a matter of days, so it really would be a good month to sign up for you. There'll be a preview on this forum and a front page post when it happens. So check it out. ^^

Jesus fucking finally, it's been, what, 2 *years* since the comic started? More?

Is this the end? Because I'm not making a subscription for another year's worth of "To be continued"...

Re: BE Story Club Presents: Spells R Us #4

I've never really understood the huge hub-bub surrounding this particular story/comic anyways. The story is way too dark and depressing for me and not fun at all. The only shmexy part was the very beginning where the girl slimmed down and BE'd for the first time (and when her friend did as well I suppose).

The rest has just been "raep raep raep oh god my life is sinking into a quagmire of destruction". I also never even understood why it seemed liked EVERY dude's thoughts affected her reality, when it was only supposed to apply to that jock she magicked up.

In the end, one's subscription to the BESC should definitely not hinge on one sole story/comic, especially when there are so many to judge by. And now that the BESC is basically culling a lot of its story and comic content from the contests it holds from its subscrbers, there's finally some decent variety in the type of story as well.

If anything, my one complaint lately has been that Portal Comics doesn't seem to like drawing the actual BE sequences very well, and half the time don't even draw it at all.

I know what you mean it's pretty much an EC comic minus everything that made EC comics cool.

Re: BE Story Club Presents: Spells R Us #4

For those of us who are clueless...ie: me... what are EC comics?

As for the BESC, my feeling has always been that they just get too big to be any fun or even erotic. But that's just me, I suppose. I'm sure scarcely anyone else feels the same way.

I think most looked forward to Dream Girl's continuation for the potential for more variety of TFs or another girl falling under it's 'curse' or some lesson learned in a Twilight Zone vibe...or something! A case of 'what comes after not living up to what came before'.

And dear god, there's a To Be Continued?

EC comics was a comic book company that lasted from the 1940s through the 1950s. titles include Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear and MAD magazine.

I have the first couple of chapters of the story and I like it. The art is very good and I think the story really drives the whole project. I do not need to be bombarded with BE in a comic. I like some reason for the BE as well. I will pick up the next chapter when Lorekeep posts his story.

It gets lots of attention because there are so few TF comics of any kind, and the art is pretty good. If there were several comics of similar quality and the others had less bleak writing, or I dunno, some process maybe? Then this one would likely be paid far less attention.

I agree the story's too depressing to be fun, but wish-gone-wrong is basically Spells R Us' schtick, so that's to be expected. It'd be more obvious if they tossed in the lecherous old wizard in a bathrobe who runs the SRU store.
