Apparently it's in the works to debut on Fox next November. Michael Dougherty will be writing, no actresses confirmed. Here he is talking about the porejct:
It?s about goddamn time someone tried to get werewolves back on primetime TV. Sure there have been some shows since ?Werewolf: The Series? that have made minimal effort, but it sounds like Trick ?r Treat director Michael Dougherty?s Fox show ?Bitches? will be the one we?ve been waiting for. ?It?s about four women living in New York City who are werewolves,? Dougherty told the Fangoria Radio crew the other night. ?It?s Sex & The City with werewolves! They seduce people, then they eat them! The series will answer the questions: how do they feed, where do they work? It?s very funny.? ?Bitches? will be kicking into production early next year. Just how much of a mix of humor and horror there will be remains to be seen, but it?s got werewolves so I?m there. Let?s hope it makes it past the pilot at least! Any guesses on the TF potential there? It is FOX, so it should be nice and trashy. |

Re: "Bitches" Werewolf TV series
It's FOX, sooo....
![]() Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a TV series, but should FOX be the one to do it? As far as "answering questions", I think they're a little behind the curve on that one, huh? ![]() Considering what little we know about the show, unless they plan on "raising the bar", I only see moderate TF scenes in this one. The final verdict is out until Trick 'r Treat is released to the public or this series is shown on the air, whichever comes first. It's 200-freakin'-9; I don't see how they can screw this one up (TF sequences), and yet someone manages to find a way.... Just brace yourself for the mainstream frenzy that's bound to happen when it's released. |

Although, I'd have to say I don't expect much in the way of process. I think we'll see some fangs, some mussed up hair, yellow eyes, maybe some claws growing and maybe, just maybe an ear or two. But that's all I'll expect. Maybe the anti-Fox angle is really an anti-broadcast TV angle and you want the show on HBO or Showtime or something like that. Especially considering the possibility of a more graphic TF (meaning nudity), but even then I'd almost guarantee that the process would still suck. Face it. They don't know or care about the TF community. They wonder why werewolf movies and shows fail and it's a simple case of not giving the people what they want. Look at it this way. We're essentially "experts" at the TF genre here. We know what works and what doesn't. Chances are if we smell something bad about a TF themed production, the non-TF community will as well. The difference is that they won't know why it stinks. The non-TF community won't believe a TF story if they don't actually see the TF. We at least know how to fill in the blanks. They can't. Movies and TV producers have to realize that, but never will. Why do you think American Werewolf in London successfully crossed-over aside from being a solid movie? The TF scene was believable. If they threw a cheesy TF in there, no way would people have enjoyed the film as much because they would never have connected David and the wolf. I'm interested in seeing if "Bitches" ever makes it to our TVs and of course I'll watch. But I have a feeling it will be yet another disappointment no matter who shows it and probably a short lived one at that. By the way...sorry I strayed a little bit from the original point, but I had to say it. |

*sigh* How the words of the "wise" (or at least fairly knowledgeable) are cast aside... My statements regarding FOX hasn't changed; as you've mentioned, my expectations are quite low for this show right now, leaving them plenty of room to impress me. Sure, they've made several decent shows, but they tend to be overshadowed by their other mediocre works. As for which network should run this show, I haven't the foggiest idea. I still don't feel FOX can handle a show like this, but I'm not exactly sure who could possibly pull it off... |

Actually 'we' are pretty clueless on tf( where tf= transformation) and its everyone else who has a better chance of grasping the plot/idea the series writer is trying to get across."We" tend to concentrate on fetishes/erotica whilst everyone else zooms right in on the plot. Hence if Butch Hartmann puts his dragon ghost in episodes such as "Prisoners of Love",Parental Bonding,Beauty Marked ( and the one with the ghost king and his game of chess) they (the smarter ones anyways) can tell Butch has done his research into the origins of the whole dragon princess,Aragon, bad Mommy won't let me go to the Ball thing whilst 'we' reduce a 1000 years of literary tradition to a < female >> dragon> fetish wanker lasting 9 seconds |

Yeah, just like Simpsons, Family Guy, and Futurama, Star Wars, the Alien series, etc, etc, etc.
Still, I wouldn't hold my breath on detailed transformation scenes. That is, unless FOX has figured out that we exist and have money. And even then, I wouldn't expect it to be extremely thoughtful or considerate to people actually enjoying it. Here's to being proven wrong? |

Re: "Bitches" Werewolf TV series
Sounds promising. There hasn't been a werewolf series on tv since "Wolf Lake" was cancelled in its first season back in 2001. That was disappointing, as
I'm pretty sure there would've been some sweet tf-scenes in the show had it continued. But I believe that was on CBS, whereas this is FOX. Hopefully this one fares better. Last edited by Arthax; 02-01-2009 at 01:16 PM. |

Re: "Bitches" Werewolf TV series
SIMPSONS, under Fox's current management, has degenerated into crap (although it's also a show that's way past its prime, regardless of who's in charge now). The same applies for every other example you've cited, or do I need to mention the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Alien vs. Predator, etc. etc. etc.?

Just saying. I like TF as much as the next guy. Probably more. I'm not sure that qualifies me as more intelligent than anyone else, though. So, just... let's not put ourselves on pedestals based on our preferences. |

My Two Cents:
I believe they need to take a totally different route and make werewolves appealing to the general masses by making the werewolf designs aesthetically pleasing in an erotic sence, while still being able to pass the censors standards, they should do a type of bikini fur approach where the fur is arranged in a manner like a bikini but without any strings, I've seen such bikini's in Playboy magazines and they would look great on a werewolf with some other fur pattern. Also, I'd recommend that they hire female bodybuilders and fitness models to portray the actresses when they're transforming and show them ripping out of their clothing and shoes alah The Incredible Hulk. It would look much more satisfying for a female to be doing the ripping of her clothing if she had the physicality to show how huge she looked after transformed. Plus there's the need for digitigrade feet, they could probably canibalize some prosthethics from Tales from the Crypt the Movie: Demon Knight; the appendeges used for the unglate demons could be reshaped into workable feet for the werewolves. Here are two designs that I have perfected, one that is definately R rated and the other (without the four extra breasts sorry :-P ) that is sensible for broadcast with the right amount of makeup and fur: The bikini is only a standin for the real fur, the bra should be unioned with the fur that is near the lats but not in between the chest. This avoids the association that the woman has a hairy chest and still is modest for broadcasting. You can look at my recent artwork on this forum for more ideas
