Re: Cautionary message about Amazon Eve
THE FOLLOWING IS MY OPINION AND IS NOT MEANT TO BE PRESENTED AS INCONTROVERTIBLE FACT.
Surgery and hormone treatments do not change a person's gender. That "Y" chromosome does not magically change to "X". So because this person is still genetically male, I refer to him as "he". I'm simply speaking the truth. A man who tries to make himself appear as feminine as possible through surgery, hormone treatments, make-up, women's clothing, etc. is still a man. It's a very arbitrary thing, gender. To try to define a person's gender through genetics is in no way more valid than doing so through appearances and physical attributes. |

Re: Cautionary message about Amazon Eve
Dear Sour Oblivion: Sit and spin.
I was classmates and friends with a transgendered person in College, and she was a very sweet girl (as well as a dependable classmate; we were actually project partners in my Thomas Mallory Class). So don't rag on transgendered folks around me buster, cause I aint havin it. Also: Considering some of the weird ass stuff that gets posted on this site, you've got some nerve bitching about this sort of thing. Last edited by Crinos; 01-24-2010 at 06:46 PM. |

Then how do you account for Kleinfelter's syndrome? Androgen insensitivity syndrome? XX Male Syndrome? Intersexuality? Think before you say someone can or cannot be something as ambiguously defined as male or female. |

Re: Cautionary message about Amazon Eve
This isn't a matter of deception whatsoever. Eve is presenting herself as a woman because that's exactly what she is. The minor fact she's biologically male will never come into play, whether you buy her products of not. She isn't going to whip out her dick, as she hasn't got one.
It's the folks who are bothered by the fact she once had male genitals or that she has a Y chromosome that need to get over themselves. If those are the sorts of things that matter to someone, I really have no time for them. The only people who have any business knowing a detail as unimportant and personal as her biological sex are the people she engages in relationships with. It's not her job to pander to the general public's homophobia though. If her being "dishonest" about her biological sex was somehow hurting customers, I too would be rallying for her to identify as a biological male. It's not though. People are allowing their homophobia to override the situation. That's not her problem. It's theirs. If you're attracted to her physically and you think she's a lovely person, embrace the fact you're attracted to someone who used to have male genitals. If a Y chromosome can override all those legitimate feelings, well, that's shallow as hell. Quote:

I don't look at a person and separate gender and sex into two different considerations. It's a lot of work!
