Actually I am all over the tech for it, I would LOVE to get twin cameras with some sort of common trigger.
But I have a set of rails (turned sideways they can take the two pictures needed) and I have a lovely 3D lens for my canon as well (a loreo lens in a cap) So i can definately do it... What I need to figure out is mostly me being a perfectionist.... Basicly if the average 3D shot is taken of the model at distance X is 70mm apart (the distance between your pupils) then if the model is to appear 3 times larger what is the distance between shots to get that effect. It could just be linear, but I suspect there is more to it than that. anyway back to work |

Wow, those look great! Nice model choice.
My only complaint is the fuzzy border between the 2 images. When I cross my eyes that area keeps "shaking" if you know what I mean? As if it cant make a match. And with that border so close to the model, it's just irritating. Could you post another example with just a clean seperation of the 2 frames, with a few pixels of black between them? With no blending at all? Also would have liked to seen some shots of the model herself with more depth. With her reaching toward or away from the camera. But still, this is looking absolutely amazing, I look forward to the real set! edit: After looking up your Loreo lens, I see the fuzzy border is from the lens itself, and not (as I assumed) from editing in Photoshop. My bad! Maybe you can try keeping the model away from this edge? edit 2: The more I look at the images, the more I get used to the divider. So rock on!

They work somewhat like a Magic Eye right? They do give a pretty nice finished product.

Bah. Now you got me thinking of the math involved in scaling it. Here is what I could come up with: (I'm just making this up as I go, I don't actually know much about 3D photography.)
Take the average distance between human irises (mine are about 2.25" apart), that's the offset distance of the cameras when picturing a normal sized human being. From there, you can work with percentages. To make your subjects 2x size, make the offset 50%. To make them half size, the offset needs to be 200%. Fish-eye lenses may be necessary for close-in pov shots. Of course, this would be very hard to do with physical cameras, since the body of the cameras would make it hard to get small offsets. I might play around with poser though and test out this theory. Anyway, good luck with this project. Looks like it's gonna be badass. ![]() |

You cross your eyes similar to Magic Eye, but that's about the only similarity.

Free 3D red/blue glasses http://www.rainbowsymphony.com/freestuff.html
Though I haven't tried it. You only need to send a SASE.

feureau: It may be me being paranoid, but if I had to hazard a guess as to why that site can provide free 3d specs it's because they use that SASE to give your address to other people for junk mail....or maybe even something more sinister.

Love the two picture 3d, can't wait to see a growth set with that model in that format.

Mattariel, you're scepticism is not without warrant, however there are some sites that are legit, I can't say for sure if this one is or not yet, but I think its worth a shot, I get a bunch of junk mail anyway, and I have tried sites that give away free stuff before (totallyfreestuff.com) and was satisfied however that was 6 years ago.
