I though DAZ was a site where you downloaded figures and Poser was the program in which they are used?
It could be lightwave or 3d studio max but poser is a little more straight forward.

Nope, there's DAZ|Studio which functions as a basic and limited Poser. Butit'sfree.

Technically the person you replied to was correct, but then so are you.

Daz used to just sell poser products and used to sell poser itself from what I recall (poser being the program that you'd use the figures in). Later Daz decided to create their own version of poser due to issues with the current owners of poser (poser the program has changed hands a few times with each company doing different things to it) and that's where Daz Studio comes from.

All from memory and it's been a long time since I've messed with poser and watched the creation of Daz Studio so I may be misremembering things slightly.
