Oh, one thing you need to know about Emeralds, Suti- They're very susceptible to cracking and shearing. Even though the emerald itself won't be destroyed easily (It's an 8 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness, and Diamonds are 10) it is very possible to wind up with emerald pieces if it gets hit the wrong way. Even the best cut emeralds usually have cracks in them if they're over a carat. (Even the most valuable emerald in the world, the Hooker Emerald at the SMithsonian, has an inch-long crack running through the lower left.) So if emeralds are the source of her power, that could make for a nice dramatic moment- Subi takes a tumble in a fight, and finds out her powers are weakening. To her horror, the fall cracked an emerald out of some piece of jewelery and the stone fell out of the setting, causing her to have to recover the emerald in order to get power from it. Also, Columbia is the largest exporter of Emeralds, if that might be useful.
Good luck on the comic, hope that helps! |
