Crysis Editor
Alright, you've all heard of Crysis, right? You know, game with great graphics that 90% of people couldn't hope to play on the highest graphics settings? Yeah, that one.
Well, the game ships with a free editor which allows you alter pretty much any aspect of the game. The editor works a lot like a regular modelling program...complete with a scaling function (THough not nearly as complete as, say, Maya, obviously.). This also applies to the game's female characters. Although they look bizarre in the editor, once you test the modifications, there they are in all their giant glory. Included are some a couple screenshots I've made of the two female characters I've seen in the game. There are other female models included in the editor, but unfortunately, scaling them simply deforms their bodies. I haven't figured out how what's required to uniformly scale up their entire bodies yet, only those of the already integrated characters. |

As for body parts, yeah, I bet you probably could do that, too. I'm only just starting to look around with this editor, and haven't yet figured out how to alter the meshes on the characters or anything like that yet. (I suspect some functions you'd find in a normal modelling program would obviously be disabled. Hopefully not that one, too.) I'm hoping someone with a little more skill in this area will be able to assist further. I can say, though, that it's kind of funny watching General Kyong trying to act all bad-ass when Helena (Girl with the pony-tail) is towering 15 feet above him, staring up at her as she's talking. ![]() Last edited by Sauerkraut; 02-07-2008 at 04:57 PM. |

Re: Crysis Editor
you meant 99.99% right? because it needs 4 video cards to run at maximum graphics (two duble cards(GF7950 for instance) with a SLI motherboard)

Re: Crysis Editor
Yes, BUT, note how I said 90% couldn't "hope" to play it on highest settings. I'd bet there's a good 10% of people out there with enough money to afford a beast like that. You know, once they mortgaged their house, sold their car, sold their kids into slavery and filed bankruptcy.

As for your request...well, I know people around here don't often look kindly upon requests, but whatever. I work for the people. Here we have the same scene, except at two different sizes. The first is at about 10ft, with the second at approx. 15-20ft. (It's hard to estimate, as you only see them properly scaled once you start the tester up, which is where these screens were taken.) I love how, in the second one, it's like he's worriedly backing away as she's about to grab him by the head or something. |

Re: Crysis Editor
It's pretty cool how his face is looking at hers despite the size. (tho I wouldn't say eyes forward would be unrealistic)

Re: Crysis Editor
You know, though, the editor is also useful for other things as well.
A certain level piss you off too much? Pop in a VTOL and level the objective. Not enough bang bang for you? Throw in another dozen Koreans and have at 'er. Getting bored killing everyone yourself? Chuck in some allies and a few extra enemies and then stand back as they duke it out. Now if only I could figure out how to insert and grow female characters outside of the cinematics... |
